A while back, I bought this vaguely western-style dress and then realised I actually have no shoes that really go with it. I really want cowboy boots, but the ones I have (TUK ones) are completely the wrong colour and are patterned in a way that clashes with the dress. Vegan cowboy boots are generally ugly. I don’t know why that is, but they just are.
Maybe it’s because real cowboy boots are usually such an ode to leather that the only companies that would replicate them in vegan materials are either doing it to save money or don’t really understand what makes a good cowboy boot. Those gorgeous vintage cowboy boots you see around were probably handmade by someone who knew what they were doing, too, rather than in a sweatshop. Compare and contrast these, for example, with vegan cowboy boots you see in shop. Makes you want to cry tears of rage, doesn’t it?
But I digress. Truth be told, these ruched ankle boots from Blowfish are not exactly cowboy boots but I reckon they are nice enough to go with my dress. They may not be my dream cowgirl boots, but they won’t detract from the outfit and the overall effect will be good. They have a flattering shape and a comfortable heel. I quite like the chunky zip, too. These also come in a sort of light brown as well (walnut).
Sadly, when it comes to vegan boots, we still have a way to go before we can really enjoy a really exciting variety at an affordable price.
You can get them from Office.
