It has the homey shades of autumn and winter slippers (plus red, which I’m not sure is a wintery shade, but it works) and the hessian-covered heel and flower of summer and spring. This weird shoe from Poetic License is totally an all season shoe. Just don’t wear it in -20C or anything in the snow, cause I’m not sure it’d work for that. On the other hand, it would dress up any plain, dark coloured outfit perfectly. It might even be worth experimenting with dark but bold coloured socks or tights if you think you can pull it off.

I must say I like the lowish, stable-looking heel. These would work perfectly with jeans, so I’m thinking they’d make perfect daytime heels – casual but trendy and hip.

These weird and wicked shoes are a collaboration with Vegan Shoe Addict favourites, Melissa shoes and Gaetano Pesce, an Italian architect and designer.

They are meant to be the perfect intersection of mass production and personal customisation – they come like this, in bootie form and mass produced out of Melissa’s special plastic material, but you can cut away at the circles (if you dare!) to change the shape of the shoe to fit your own personal style. The holes between the “bubbles” make these fair weather shoe-friends, but they’re bootie-shaped and are therefore fine for writing about in winter as well. I dare you to disagree.

These would be much cooler if they weren’t made by Nike but they’re still pretty damn cool. And weird. Actually, they are in the concept stage, so they are not yet made by Nike, or indeed anyone else.

They’re basically different types of plastic you can stick on your feet to protect them from harm while still supposedly feeling like you’re barefoot. They have different ones for yoga, dance and cardio / combat training.

They could be a handy alternative for those suede-bottomed things I’ve seen dancers wear for types of dance that call for bare feet. I’m just not sure how they would stick on and whether they’d stay and whether it would be comfortable. Those suede-bottomed things just slip on, rather than stick.

I spotted a pair of these in a shop window yesterday and managed to track them down online. As if moulded rubber lace up trainers in all kinds of mad and bright colours weren’t great enough, these ones are actually called “The Dude”, which reminds me of Big Lebowski and is therefore super uber great.

The downside is that they seem to come in only 3 sizes – small, medium and large. Handy if you’re more or less one of these sizes, not so much if you’re not. The larger sizes will fit men.

These “flocked” wedges are a bit more subdued in form, but they do have the most amazing cone decorations that leave no doubt as to the fact they’re brilliantly high fashion.
Melissa shoes are sort of hard to get, which I think is part of their charm. You see their shoes in a few places but never the whole collection at once or even anything near it.

Check out the weird heels on these! It looks like some sort of pillar or a pole or something – not exactly ultra-feminine but certainly attention grabbing.

I wonder what it would be like to walk around in these? They almost look like posing shoes you couldn’t really walk too far in, but the heel seems stable.
They are by Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Shoes, so no wonder they’re so wickedly odd. This should make them pretty comfortable to wear, as well, as I’ve never had an uncomfortable pair of Melissa Shoes. Do remember, though, that their shoes often run small by about a size.

These are apparently rain boots by Jeffrey Campbell. They are pretty strange, but I like them. They have a sort of spats look about them, which I think is something that should be encouraged.

Being rubbery, they’re perfect for walking through puddles and keeping rain off your feet while being somewhat less dull and obvious than your usual crop of wellies.

I have to say these have a really unfortunate name. Condoms? The first thing that comes into my mind when I hear the word isn’t exactly stylish things that you can slip on your stiletto-heeled shoes to make them look all exciting and diva-like. But that’s exactly what the heel condoms are.

There are quite a few different designs you can choose from and the vast majority of them are vegan (there’s at least one with feathers on).

Looks like a good way to get more wear out of generic shoes, match them to outfits and generally make shoes look more impressive in a relatively cheap way. The name, however… Somewhat problematic.

Look what I found for you in the Office sale! These funny vegan flats have little lips on them. Cute! Sort of weird, but cute!

You can go for these hot and sexy (ish, they’re flats) red and black version or for the sweeter, girlier blue and pink version.

I must say I quite like these weird anti-flip flop style sandals. I’m not sure what they’d be like to actually wear, but they look fun and cool and are apparently made in India from natural rubber.

They come in lots of different colour combinations. I obviously favour the red and black version, but there are others equally funky.
These come from Vegetarian Shoes and are currently on sale so only cost a tenner. A great choice if you’re in the market for a pair of flip flops but want something a little bit unusual and different.

With a name like Killdoll, I don’t need to tell you the target audience of this shoe company, do I? Or rather, the target age. Yup, they’re a bit weird, but in a totally acceptable way and very girly and cute.

A modern take on an 80s/ early 90s style, they are trendy, fun and ever so slightly emo and alternative. The lady whose face is on the shoes reminds me somewhat of Siouxsie and it makes me a little bit sad inside that many of the people who’d buy these shoes would do so without having a clue who Siouxsie is. Kids nowadays, eh?

Be that as it may, these vegan ankle boots are best worn with big hair and heavy eyeliner as you’re standing outside the club having your rebellious cigarette. Black also works.
