These cute high top vegan trainers from Babycham are a cool twist on the old canvas trainer thang. They have funky patent accents, plus the cutsey babycham logo that looks like Bamby. Also, check out the neat star shaped eyelets!
These are good shoes if you want to be casual and comfortable but also a bit more fashionable and slightly alternative with it. They’ll make good every day shoes that’ll dress up an outfit in just the right measure. They are called the Babycham glitter jersey trainers and are currently on sale for 20 quid.
You can get them from the Schuh website.
I sometimes have mixed feelings about Simple Shoes, as they do use a lot of leather and suede in their shoes, but are waving the eco flag quite strongly. Still, these 100% vegan shoes are guaranteed to have absolutely no animal products inside, so make a good choice for a canvas trainer if you want to be sure you’re being absolutely animal free.
They’re also pretty cool-looking and are apparently very well made and comfortable. They’re also eco-friendly and ethical. The rubber parts are recycled and will biodegrade.
You can get them directly from Simple Shoes.
Here’s a fun pair of custom made high tops from Zazzle. They remind me a bit of airbrushing artwork from the trippy 80s – all space-inspired and bright coloured. They’d go very well with all them new-retro 80s and 90s looks you young kids are sportin’ nowadays.
Zazzle basically print designs on demand on keds shoes. They’re certainly more expensive than your average high top canvas shoe, but the upside is you’re not likely to see anyone else wearing the same shoes as you (and if you do, you may as well befriend them as they’d have had to especially order them from the same place, so you obviously have something in common).
Check them out at Zazzle, where you can also find loads of other neat designs.
I tried to ignore the whole thing, but apparently there’s no escape, so here’s a pair of vegan football boots. I don’t know why they call them boots, they are blatantly some sort of trainer. Still, who am I to argue?
I’m not sure I like the colours on them, but they are the only ones I could find online, so there you go. Now you too could kick a (vegan) football around the field and feel manly.
You can get them at Alternative Stores
Oh yeah, and for the full effect, there’s this…
Leather trainers look smarter than canvas trainers, sad but true. But here’s a pair of vegan trainers for the boys that look just as smart-casual as the leather ones.
Not quite my style, I must say, but they do a good job of matching some of the popular leather styles I’ve seen around and are apparently very ethical as well as being 100% vegan. They look quite Italian in style, actually, which is echoed by the name of the company, although I think they are in the US.
You can get these directly from the company’s site – Ragazzi Vegan.
And here’s another interesting pair from Everyday Logic. They look almost like those funky wrestling shoes you occasionally see around normal shoe stores (and often see around wrestling supply places, one would assume). Most importantly, they’re red! A nice shade of red, too.
They’re 100% vegan and fair trade, certainly an unusual take as far as trainers go and even the label is pretty damn cool.
They are unisex, though these seem a bit more of a girly shape to me than the other ones I wrote about yesterday. Either way, I’m kinda fond of the perforated leather look, so it’s good you can get a nice vegan pair that’s so ethical and feel-good too.
You can get these from Everyday Logic’s website.
Check out these “Jinga” Brazilian trainers on Neon Collective! They’re fun and flexible, inspired, apparently, by Capoeira. They’re designed to feel like you’re not wearing shoes at all, so are lightweight and have a special dance shoe like sole.
I see they come in lots of different colours, though I am not sure which colours Neon Collective have. Either way, the company that makes them is apparently a cool social enterprise and Neon Collective are a vegan boutique we all love, so if you’re looking for comfortable, slightly unusual trainers with that hot Brazilian vibe, check these out. They are unisex, too and equally suitable for both men and women in style.
You can get them from the Neon Collective site.
STOP PRESS! I just found this link that seems to be talking about the same shoes (they look the same, anyway) and says they have a leather trim. It’s a recycled leather trim, but still leather.
I thought about removing this post but am leaving it here with this message for now.

OK. These are totally awesome. Yes, all these are the same shoes. They’re just that awesome.
They’re basically 4 pairs of shoes in one and they are all pretty damn funky if you ask me. They are made by a German company called Nat2. Nat2 also make other kinds of convertible shoes, including trainers that turn into outright sandals.
I prefer these though, cause the trainers look very cartoon-like, but in a good way. It’s basically like wearing Optimus Prime on your feet, if he were made of canvas and rubber.
You can get these from Coilexstore.com. It helps if you speak German.
I’ve also seen a bunch of these for sale for only 20UKP on Mozimo, but in a limited colour range.
I know I’m showing my age here, but Punky Brewster is all I can think about when I see these. They are so totally 80s teenager. I love it! Ok, I can think of a few other things too – My little pony and the care bears being but a couple…
We’ve got denim, we’ve got the classic high-top shape and there’s zips and stars too with plenty of colours and, most importantly, bright pink laces and lining! All you’d need to do is infuse these with a pencil eraser scent and I’d literally fall down and cry with nostalgic tears of joy.
I mean, you have to be a little bit 12 to wear them (even if only on the inside) but oh to be 12 again and teeny-bop along to your favourite pop songs with these on! We do love shoes with a sense of humour here at Vegan Shoe Addict, so bring on the rainbow!
You can get these vegan 80s trainers from Cloggs and they also come in a somewhat more subdued version with black, pink and turquoise.
OK, I know it’s cheating to write about so many shoes from the same place over one week, but just this one more pair cause they’re so wicked. Vegan steampunk trainers, oh yeah!
I know it’s Valentine’s day, so I should really be writing about some shoes with a heart on them (like the awesome Melissa Dragon Lady), but hey, these are brilliant too and steampunk is (apparently) forever.
Check out the really intricate, delicate gear print. Nice!
I’m also liking the pinstripe / sort of aged, almost parchment combo. So now you can basically still look steampunk even when it’s trainer-weather and you’re in your street clothes looking a different kind of cool. The whole design is at once very modern but also somewhat old-school with the whole Spats look and Victorian charm.
Totally casual and neat and you can be sure no one in your vicinity will own a pair. There are a few other steampunk designs on there that are also worth a look, though these were my favourites so far.
You can get them from Zazzle.
Another good find on the Zazzle site. These Rasta-inspired trainers are soooo cute!
They have the right colours if you want to do the Jamaican thang, but also a cool pattern to go with, so you can wear them even if you just like the design and the colours and it won’t necessarily mean you’re overtly Rasta. So wink, if you may, or you could work them into a bigger Jamaican, Rasta look.
I like the cute red piping and the splash design. The base design of the trainer itself is pretty neat in a simple sort of way, making for a really desirable shoe.
You can get these from Zazzle.
How awesome! Vegan trainers printed with a bowling shoe pattern. I just found this site where I gather people can custom design trainers and then they are sold on the site. There are some super cool designs on there and I’m definitely going to be reviewing a bunch as I go through them.
I really like these, cause I really like bowling shoes. I actually have a pair of Rocket Dogs made out of old stock Chinese vegan bowling shoes, though they are single colour. These are not quite as cool as actual bowling shoes, but on the other hand they’re trainers and therefore more socially acceptable around people who don’t understand how cool those are to actually wear out, but can get down with the irony of wearing a trainer that looks like them.
Not cheap, but how many people you know have trainers that look like bowling shoes?
You can get these from Zazzle.
OK, these are weird. They look like normal trainers, but no! They’re all cut up, Kinda like the slashed T-shirts of days gone by or a canvas sneaker-sandal.
If you liked that 80s torn-up punk look, you can now have it on your feet as well, which is pretty exciting, really. They’re definitely eye-catching and different, but are they practical? Do we care?
Thinking ahead to a nice hot summer… We probably don’t. They’re flat and comfortable and they’d go with all your funky electro-punk clubwear.
They also come in white and there’s a rather loud 80s-tastic plaid version too.
You can get these from Office.
Oh I do like the Macbeth trainers / sneakers / skate shoes for the boys. They are just so… understatedly cool. It’s like the people who designed them know they’re just shoes and that shoes should know their place, but they also know that people often judge you based on your shoes, even if it’s only as part of the grander scheme of what you’re wearing.
These are black, simple and sexy but are just real sweet at the same time. If you wore these and wanted people to know you were vegan, you’d have to wear one of those “nobody knows I’m a vegan” T-shirts (do they exist? I think they probably do).
These are just so much about having the sort of super cool skater or grungy look thang that no one would think anything of it and you wouldn’t get instantly tagged as a vegan anarchist. See? Understatedly cool…
You can get them via Mooshoes.
