With all those ugly sandal-boot and gladiator sandals doing the rounds this season, aren’t you glad to see a pair of sandals that look like actual sandals? I know I am.
Well, here’s a simple vegan slingback sandal that’s current yet timeless. Cheap, cheerful and does the trick. It may not turn heads, but it’ll get you from A to B in relative style and you can wear it with everything your summer wardrobe could throw at it.
It also comes in gold, silver and black and only costs £15 in the Office sale. There seem to be quite a few sizes still in stock but the sale supposedly ends this week, so if you want to pick up a pair of these for this cool price you’d better get your uhh… shoes on.

Here’s a fun pair of cork heeled nautical-themed slingbacks from Rocket Dog. As usual, they make good, functional shoes, go with both retro and modern outfits and, more often than not have a reasonably wide fit that means even women with wider feet can wear them (don’t hold me to it, though: their shoes seem to vary quite a lot in fit). The wide heel means they are quite stable even if you’re not used to heels, which makes them pretty much perfect for women who want to go for that so-called feminine look without sacrificing too much comfort.

Well, the sale is definitely on at Office Shoes, so it’s time to check out the vegan offerings and grab a few bargains. These sweet and simple vegan slingbacks are only £15 right now and if the British summer is to continue as well as it has been then you can never have too many cute sandals.
I’ve tagged these with retro mostly because of the polka dots, but I think they’re retro-esque enough to play along nicely with vintage stuff. Apart from that they look like they could be fun shoes to wear with just about anything summery.
They come in a bunch of different colours and you can get them from…yup, Office.
While digging through the Marks & Spencer site, I also found these. You never know when you might need a simple slingback summery wedge to complete a look, but they sure do come in handy every once in a while.
These make a cheap, understated option that may not be the sexiest on the market (see the recent Schuh take on the idea for comparison), but certainly does the trick. Like the vast majority of the M&S shoes, these have a slight mumsy feel to them, rather than an outright vampy, femme fatale thing, but we are dealing with a retro look here, so that is not entirely unwelcome.
At least you know they’ll be reasonably well made for that price and comfortable enough to walk or dance in.

Behold these cute retro wedge sandals! They are called the Caden Bow and are of Schuh’s own brand. Girlie, pink and flowery seems to be very in this coming season, at least according to Schuh, and these fit right in there, ready-made to complete your 50s housewife garden party look or your rockabilly pool party look, whichever you prefer. The flower pattern the lining’s made out of could go either way, really. The wedge is 8cm high at its tallest point, so while definitely a good size, isn’t too insane either. If you like the pattern inside, then there is also a version with that on the outside, although I am not sure whether the lining for that is vegan (I would assume so because of the pricing and my knowledge of Schuh, but am not 100% certain).

Here’s another plastic / rubber creation from Marc Jacobs. This time, for the more grown up in style. These cute, Italian-made little black heels are classic enough to go with your little black dress. More importantly, look at how shiny and sleek they are!
They definitely get my vote for cool summer sandals you can dress down (cause they’re rubber) or up (cause of the design) and wear with everything – short, long, casual or even smart. Ish.

It’s time for another pair of simple, summery and versatile heels. These peep toe sandals may not be the most outrageous or exciting, but they are the sort of shoes you can wear with everything.
Sometimes you just want simple, uncomplicated and useful shoes without all the designer or supertrend fanfare. Well, here they are.
If these were an outing, they’d be a few friends meeting in a chic cafe on a Saturday afternoon, rather than a wild night on the town, which isn’t to say you can’t wear these with your hot little black dress and make them work. It’s just the spirit of the thing, you know: all summery and girlie and stuff.
