Woohoo! Another cute pair of perfectly summery shoes from Poetic License. These are called “Sweet Shirley Temple”, I guess because they’re super cute and are made with chintzy patterned fabric that looks like something your granny would have worn as a summer dress or used as curtains. Note the super-cute tiny little cherry beads, too!
These lovely lovely wedges come in black or pink as well. You can get them all from Endless.
I do so like these. They look sort of like desert boots but crossed with a lovely retro fabric all flowery and sweet.
There’s definitely a fashion statement to be had here of the quirky and fun variety. It’s like instant spring on your feet, which is a very cheery thing indeed.
These flowery fabrics seem to be making quite the comeback on shoes as of late. I’ve seen a few other hits in this general trend that I’m going to write about soon.
For now, you can get your hands on these if you’re quick enough. They’re available now on Modcloth.
Brace yourself for a big name to fit these big big wedge sandals: “Schuh Garda Ankle Strap Wedge”. You’ll need the name to search for them on the Schuh site. Aren’t they awesome and retro-licious? Towering high above the world with a 13cm heel they may be a bit demanding for the average user, but boy are they hot! Supposedly 70s inspired, though I reckon the gingham means they’d go well with 50s dresses too. The 70s seem to be back in style this summer. Weren’t they already back in style a few years back? Or has it been long enough for the style to become re-retro?
Either way, you can get these from Schuh in the UK and worldwide.

There comes a time in every girl’s life, when it’s time to put pointless infatuations behind, throw caution to the wind and fall in love. With a shoe. OK, so with me it happens almost every other day, but this time, I know it’s the real deal.
These gorgeous blue lace ups from Miss L Fire are beautiful in every way. I was worried about the red trims there for a minute, but they are faux leather, not actual leather. God is obviously smiling down on me from heaven.
You can get these from Modcloth, but if you want a pair, you’d better be quick. They seem to only have a few sizes in stock of the shoes they sell and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Personally, I wouldn’t want to let these slip away!
I just realised it’d been only women’s shoes on here recently and not even flats! So let’s take a moment to go back to earthier times, with a pair of lovely, ethical shoes for the country gentleman (or the urban gentleman who’s got an eye for that tweedy, retro-esque style). These lovely “Exeter Shoes” are based on an Oxford shoe lace up style and are hand made in the UK by Green Shoes, a small, ethical and eco company. You can order their shoes in a variety of vegan colours, including some less common ones for men’s shoes such as red, purple and green. Their shoes are not cheap, but they are very reasonable when you consider the amount of work that goes into them and the fact that they will last you more or less a lifetime (and can be cheaply resoled to extend their life even further).
I love this company. Check out their traditional satchel bags, too!
You can get these from Green Shoes.
These Poetic License shoes are called “apple pie” and they’re as yummy as can be. Apart from this super cute pink colour, they also come in a similarly pastel blue and also in black.
They have a pretty retro profile and a super sweet little apple on the side for that extra nice little touch to make them special. Great all-seasons urban shoes to go with your retro look or add a retro edge to any other outfit without sacrificing modern trendiness.
You can get them from Irregular Choice.
Thanks to the lovely Lara for tipping me off about these (Hi Lara!). Aren’t they wicked cute? I just love the flared toes and the side lacing, not to mention the very retro styling that looks somewhat like a bowling shoe. These hail from Australia where they’re sold on the Veganwares.com site. They’re not cheap, at $200 but I’m pretty sure you won’t see anyone else in your vicinity wearing these. Having had a look at the site, I can confirm that there are loads more hot shoe styles on there – great if you’re into retro. I’m sure I’ll be visiting it again and again to tell you about more of their weird and wonderful vegan shoes.
In the meantime, you can get these from this page.
Here’s a pair of cheery vegan t-bar heels to remind you that spring will soon be with us. They are very airy and sweet with a fairly open weave to keep your feet happy and a lovely retro-style floral patterb to keep you happy. They’d go very well with your vintage dresses or high waisted trousers. You could match them with a floral neck or head scarf thing for even more cuteness.
They’re called Rocket Dog Oak Floral and you can get them from Schuh. I wonder if there are more colours of the Oak shoe apart from floral?
Happy Valentine’s Day! Don’t you just love these?
It’s definitely 70s retro season at Miss Selfridge. Here’s a pair of bright orange open toed platform heels that wouldn’t shame a blaxpoitation movie. They sport a solid, comfortable platform heel and a simple round buckle. They also come in some sort of creamy beige colour, but why be dull?
These would be great with miniskirts or dresses and obviously midi and maxi dresses too (as maxi dresses very big in the 70s). For some reason, the image that keeps getting into my head is these with woolly tights, a super short skirt and some sort of 70s woolly hat, but maybe that’s just because it’s cold outside. These would be far better at home in summer and spring with a healthy, shimmering tan.
You can get these at Miss Selfridges.
I was on the hunt for vegan shoes at Miss Selfridge and these caught my eye on the top of the page. They sort of remind me of 70s platforms in colour and style so I’ve marked them as retro. Notice the cute, hidden leopard print lining. It’s becoming increasingly popular to make all kinds of wild linings to otherwise plain-coloured shoes and I’m all for that. It’s sort of like a little secret about your character.
These will make super spring and summer shoes with a short dress or you could even wear them in winter under certain circumstances (in the UK – indoors?) with tights. Yes, I’m pretty sure they’d go (un)surprisingly well with bell bottomed cords, but I’m not sure you want to go that route.
You can get them from Miss Selfridge.
Whenever I see white shoes I instantly think bridal, but these pretty, low-heeled peep toes could work with other outfits, really. They have a simple, classic shape but are saved from plainness by the addition of the cute little side bows.
I can’t imagine there are that many decent looking vegan bridal shoes out there and these seem pretty cute and a little bit retro, too. The main material is satin.
They’re called “Forest side bow” and you can get them from Schuh.

First the bad news. I’m having to prioritise my workload as I have a lot of projects on the go and am beginning to stress out about not having any free time. Unfortunately, this blog is currently not contributing anything towards my income, so I have to stop posting every day for a while so I can spend more time working on what’s making me money and still have time to do other things. I will post twice a week as standard and, if I have more time, post more.
I will aim for Mondays and Fridays. I suggest you subscribe to the blog via one of the options on the right so you always know when the next post is coming, in case I suddenly find a huge load of shoes and the time to write about them.
Once my workload subsides a bit, I’ll hopefully be back to the usual post a day.
And the good news? These wicked shoes are really cheap
. They’re a retro staple that you could wear with all your gear and they’d retro up and doll up just about any outfit. As long as you avoid tracksuits I reckon you could just about wear them with anything and make it sweet.
You can get them at Modcloth.
Another slow shoe day got me looking at the hidden treasures Amazon has to offer. So I found these, courtesy of Gwen Stefani.
These classic, pin up style pumps are made of a patent material combined with a matte one and feature a cute heart-shaped buckle. All this is balanced on a precarious stiletto heel for that extra height and relative instability.
Instant cuteness in a shoe.
You can get them on Amazon.
These “petrol” coloured velvet platform boots also come in black, but both colours are running out fast.
They’re in the Office sale and are truly retro-tastic. If you’re feeling the massive 13.5 cm heel and soft, shiny velvetness of these, then you’ll need to hurry up before they’re all gone back to the 70s. Great with bold coloured or black tights or a catsuit for a slick look or just wear them under trousers and look loads taller with an added velvety edge.
Groovy, baby! (wait, is that the 60s?)
You can get them in the Office sale.
These lovely shoes are now on SALE! They’re by Beyond Skin, whose shoes are handmade in an ethical and usually eco-friendly fashion.
I love how the modern court shoe look blends with the pretty vintage pattern. These are just so totally hip.
Definitely not a common shoe. Not sure about the name, though. They are called “Maggie” and the first Maggie that springs to my mind is Maggie Thatcher. I hope and assume it’s another Maggie that inspired these, as they are way way too sweet to be named after that mean old bag.
You can get them from Beyond Skin.
