And the winners of craziest rubbery rain boots for this season are these boots by Jeffrey Campbell. If you hate rain as much as I do and need some bright, silly and somewhat mad rain boots to make you laugh as you’re stepping in puddles and getting soaked, then these are your knights in yellow shining armour. I totally get these and I’m sure many of you on here will get them too.

The brogue detailing, in case you’re wondering, is actually printed on, which is not ideal, but will have to do. At least they’re likely to keep your feet warm and relatively dry and you’re bound to look like some sort of ultra cute cartoon character.

I must admit that, while I like the looks of wellie boots / rubber rain boots in the context of festivals and fields, I wouldn’t wear them on the city streets unless there was some sort of flooding emergency.
These Hunter Regent Grosvenor boots, though, are just about hot enough to be worn in more urban surroundings. Behold their hot metallic buttons that make them look like proper military or navy boots! They’re shiny, yes, but with the patterened bits it may well take people a bit of time to notice these are made of plastic and not leather. Of course, if you live anywhere outside of London, you may be able to wear any old rain boots on the streets of your city anyway. I think it may only be the English who have such a countryside alliance and Glastonbury festival hippie association with rubber rainboots.

What can I say? It’s definitely been Office sale week here on Vegan Shoe Addict, but I found so many cool shoes in there, I thought I’d better write about them while the sale is on and there are some shoes in stock still!

These mad 60s style rain boots are definitely of the loud, unusual colour variety. If you’ve been following this blog for more than a few days, you’ll know I always choose to present the weird and crazy colour when there are a few options. There is a shiny black version of these too for those of you wanting more versatility or less… mustard. At the time of writing there seem to be enough sizes listed in both colours, though something tells me the black boots will go first.

Hoki is a small Israeli company that started when the founder cycled past one of those super dated shoe places in the south of Tel Aviv and rediscovered a bunch of old stock plastic slippers housewives used to wear in the 70s and 80s.
She managed to track down and buy the pattern from the company that used to make these and started her own business selling plastic only shoes. Since then, she’s added some pretty hot designs to the collection, uncluding these shiny wedge rain boots with this neat quilting and a style that is decidedly unlike your average wellie.

You can’t buy the shoes from the site, so you will have to email them to ask if there are any stores selling them in your area (they have been expanding into the international market). You may also be able to get them to send you some.

These are apparently rain boots by Jeffrey Campbell. They are pretty strange, but I like them. They have a sort of spats look about them, which I think is something that should be encouraged.

Being rubbery, they’re perfect for walking through puddles and keeping rain off your feet while being somewhat less dull and obvious than your usual crop of wellies.

Yup, these are rain boots, made of rubber. Aren’t they great?

They’re made by a company called Dav, which I’d never heard of, till a friend sent me the link. There are some pretty hot rain boots on there, if you can imagine such a thing. I know some people (especially in the UK) have a problem with the concept of rubber boots outside of the field wellies context, but in continental Europe and the US people are more open minded about the use of rubbers and plastics for fashion footwear.

More rain boot fun! This time, though, they’re by Melissa shoes and designed by Vivienne Westwood. Sure, they cost more than your average wellie, but they’re, you know, Vivienne Westwood, so will make you instantly 10 times cooler.

These are cute cute cute with their little side buttons that make them fit in with the military-style look while simultaneously also being young, funky and waterproof. I’m quite charmed by the blue colour, I must say.

If you were going to wear one pair of rain boots this year and look incredibly hip and fashionable nonetheless then these are definitely the ones. Pretty pretty but remember that Melissas run a size small.

I just love these vegan rain boots by Fessura. They come in a little see-through bag in the same colour as your boots (there’s red, clear, orange, yellow, grey and pink, I think) and you also get a pair of stripey socks to wear them with.

I’m not sure I’d want to be wandering round carrying a bag with boots in as well as a normal bag, but I’m sure I could find a use for a cute see-through bag anyway.

The boots themselves are very plasticy and a bit stiff. Sort of like wearing one of those hot plastic raincoats on your feet. I’m pretty sure that’s the whole point of the boots – you carry them around in your bag and change out of your sexy Italian heels into these when it looks like it’s going to be puddle weather (Fessura are an Italian label).

I don’t own a pair, but I’ve handled them. They’re definitely not as sturdy as a pair of wellies but they are definitely wickedly fashionable and cool to be seen in.
