Update! I’ve been emailed and told this company may be out of business. Have emailed to check, but if it’s true, it might mean we’re all admiring these from afar! I suggest you don’t try to buy these before emailing the company and seeing if they still exist. I have emailed them myself and will update when I hear back.
Here’s something that’s not easy to find – vegan tango shoes! Well, these can be used for all kinds of ballroom and Latin dances, I guess, but they’re supposedly for tango, which is great, cause that’s what I dance. Usually, you get suede soles, which means even the satin / other fabric / fake leather tango shoes have a dirty little secret at the bottom. These, however, use some type of fake suede instead, which is supposedly still good for dancing but is not made out of dead animal. I’m yet to try these and see how good they are (they’re priced like proper tango shoes, that’s for sure!) but will report if and when I can afford to buy them.
In the meantime, you can get them here. They are priced in Euros, so I assume they come from Europe. They have a whole range of vegan dance shoes and sneakers, so definitely worth a look.
Would you believe these beautiful Vivienne Westwood heels are vegan and made of that special Melissa Shoes plastic? Aren’t they totally awesome? These are probably the most “adult” shoes she’s designed for Melissa. I don’t mean adult in an adult movie way but in a grown up way. I love all the shoes she’s done for Melissa but they have certainly been very playful, obviously drawing inspiration from the materials and appealing to quite a fashion-savvy, young at heart audience that’s not afraid of wearing quirky plastic shoes.
These, on the other hand, while they do come in a few loud, plastic colours, are much more serious-looking. You could wear them to your gallery opening and still get away with it. One assumes they look more rubbery in person than on the Internet, but I still reckon you’d need to be pretty close to notice.
Either way, you can get them from Endless.
Here’s a pair of fun, simple and cheap high heeled sandals from our friends at Payless, the thrifty vegan’s secret stash store. They might not be your choice for the NY fashion show, but they may well serve you at the Vegas pool party.
Apart from this white colour, they also come in black, a cheap-looking denim colour and another shade which is very similar to this shade’s lining.
Basically, these are fun, summery shoes that may not last you 15 years, but will definitely provide some good times while they do last. Seeing as most self respecting fashionistas wouldn’t be seen anywhere near a Payless store, you can also rest in the knowledge that you’re likely to be the only one wearing these. I do so love that about buying from the cheap stores. I’ll leave it up to you whether to tell people where you got these when they inevitably ask.
You can get them from Payless.
There’s a time and a place for trashy gold heels and when the time comes. It’s good to know that you can get fairly decent vegan ones from H&M. These happy strappy gold sandals are out for spring, so if you feel the need to stylishly pimp up your personal style, you can grab a pair of these. With a tight black outfit without too many other bells and whistles, these could actually look almost classy, but you can go wild with your imagination if you want to look super 80s trashy style and match them with some sort of loud hipster ensemble for the full effect.
You can get them at H&M.
These black faux suede and silvery mesh heels from Olsen Haus are like something straight out of the new Tron movie. I like how classy and simple the design is, while also being quite clever and futuristic. Really, with hot designer shoes like these, you don’t really need to worry too much about the rest of your outfit. A simple but expertly designed black dress would do, though I personally would try and find a little bit of extra silver to match these to. I’m sure that breaks a million fashion rules, but hey, who cares. These shoes need to be celebrated.
You can get them from Olsen Haus. They cost $255.
Every once in a while I have to remind myself that normal people in normal society don’t actually drool over shoes. This is definitely one of those times. They’re so so cute. They’re made by Harajuku Lovers, Gwen Stefani’s line, which probably explains why they have a very Japanese-looking profile. I love the double girly bow and the slightly twisted silver studs. The peep toe thing gives you a chance to show off your toes and the killer heels give you a chance to tower over everyone else.
The good news is that these also come in black. The bad news is that there are only a few sizes left in either.
If you’re quick, you can get them on Amazon / Endless.
Here’s a pair of cheery vegan t-bar heels to remind you that spring will soon be with us. They are very airy and sweet with a fairly open weave to keep your feet happy and a lovely retro-style floral patterb to keep you happy. They’d go very well with your vintage dresses or high waisted trousers. You could match them with a floral neck or head scarf thing for even more cuteness.
They’re called Rocket Dog Oak Floral and you can get them from Schuh. I wonder if there are more colours of the Oak shoe apart from floral?
These have been around for a while, but I just saw them pop up on my Amazon widget and realised I’ve never actually featured them properly. They are by Olsen Haus, so ethical and eco-friendly, as well as vegan. Personally, I like the brown and red combination, even though it’s not the sort of colour combination I’d expect to like. Same goes for the fabric and “suede” combination. The strap is cool too, but I did expect to like the strap.
You can get them from Amazon.com
Merry Christmas everyone! Here’s to loads of veggie and vegan presents.
These Tea & cakes chintzy, flowery heels by Irregular Choice are obviously inspired by a visit to your grandma. Today is a good day to visit your grandma, cause it’s Christmas! It’s OK, though, you can still visit her even if she doesn’t celebrate Christmas. It’s just a nice thing to do.
Back to these…They feature colour overload with loud bunny soles (in case the heaps of flowers weren’t loud enough). The big bows are there to make them just a little bit more over the top.
You can get them from Schuh

There is a new trend of these high heeled “hiking boots”. I’m not sure what people are thinking – I wouldn’t hike in high heels if you paid me. I’ve heard it described somewhere as a new way of making women uncomfortable in a place so far untouched by the discomfort of heels. I mean, I know the heel is chunky and all, but would you really go down a rocky mountain in these?
Personally, I’d rather look at these as a way of bringing a bit of the great outdoors into your urban or semi-urban lifestyle. These are cute and look comfy and warm and will be
very comfortable in the city.
You can get them on Modcloth.
You know when you’re going out to the underground rave and you want to look all anarchist and industrial but you also want to look super girlie? Well, I don’t so much, cause I’m more of a big boots person when I go out raving, but hell, these are pretty damn cool so I may just reconsider. The chunky sole gives them an industrial edge and the camo is muy underground. But hey, they’re high and they’re sexy, just like you’d be if you were wearing them at a rave.
You can get them from Rocket Dog. They also come in black.
I love Modcloth, because whenever I’m short of interesting shoe ideas I can just go there and there’ll be something new and vegan and different. Like these pretty white heels with that whole white lace thing going on up the leg. They give a different meaning to the term shoe boots and, as far as hybrids go, are so so much better than all those weird sandal boot things. Instant style in a shoe. Just add anything.
You can get them at Modcloth.
Check out the weird heels on these! It looks like some sort of pillar or a pole or something – not exactly ultra-feminine but certainly attention grabbing.
I wonder what it would be like to walk around in these? They almost look like posing shoes you couldn’t really walk too far in, but the heel seems stable.
They are by Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Shoes, so no wonder they’re so wickedly odd. This should make them pretty comfortable to wear, as well, as I’ve never had an uncomfortable pair of Melissa Shoes. Do remember, though, that their shoes often run small by about a size.
They also come in black and possibly other colours as well.
You can get them on Amazon.

Ooooh I do like these! How can shoes that have so many different colours and very 80s-tastic fake gems look so adoringly classy? Well, I don’t know but here they are.
The perfect shoes to be wearing when you stick your foot out of the limo’s door so it can be snapped before it reaches the red carpet. And hey, with so many different colours, it’s bound to match even the tackiest of pink limos.
For us mere mortals, I’d settle for wearing these on a posh night of the town. I so want these!
You can get them from Modcloth. I’d say hurry up if you’re considering it, cause they seem to run out of things pretty fast.
There isn’t much more than a girl needs in this world than a pair of sparkly, silvery, multicoloured glitter heels.
These come in a staggering height and a metallic heel to boot! They are a part of the Prince court range from Schuh that come in a few other weird and wonderful vegan colours and materials.
You can get them from the Schuh site.
