I just realised it’d been only women’s shoes on here recently and not even flats! So let’s take a moment to go back to earthier times, with a pair of lovely, ethical shoes for the country gentleman (or the urban gentleman who’s got an eye for that tweedy, retro-esque style). These lovely “Exeter Shoes” are based on an Oxford shoe lace up style and are hand made in the UK by Green Shoes, a small, ethical and eco company. You can order their shoes in a variety of vegan colours, including some less common ones for men’s shoes such as red, purple and green. Their shoes are not cheap, but they are very reasonable when you consider the amount of work that goes into them and the fact that they will last you more or less a lifetime (and can be cheaply resoled to extend their life even further).
I love this company. Check out their traditional satchel bags, too!
You can get these from Green Shoes.
These black faux suede and silvery mesh heels from Olsen Haus are like something straight out of the new Tron movie. I like how classy and simple the design is, while also being quite clever and futuristic. Really, with hot designer shoes like these, you don’t really need to worry too much about the rest of your outfit. A simple but expertly designed black dress would do, though I personally would try and find a little bit of extra silver to match these to. I’m sure that breaks a million fashion rules, but hey, who cares. These shoes need to be celebrated.
You can get them from Olsen Haus. They cost $255.
It’s almost spring! So I’ve decided to write about these lovely green satin party heels by Beyond Skin.
They have a delicate striped pattern that’s almost understatedly retro, but mostly they’re shiny and a little bit sparkly (they have a diamante buckle).
Great for spring and summer parties or your holiday in Monaco.
If you don’t know about Beyond Skin yet, check them out. They’re a British company based in Brighton and they make beautiful shoes.
In the USA, you can buy these from Amazon / Endless.
You may remember the totally very beautiful and unique recycled rice bag shoes I wrote about some time ago. Well, here’s another take on the genre, this time from Keen shoes, who seem to make sort of outdoorsy, sporty shoes. These effectively mary jane trainers and are made with woven strips of recycled rice bags. Apparently each one is slightly different, because of the different bags they use. Very cute concept. They remind me of those recycled bags you can get sometimes.
I don’t like these quite as much as the Wear Every Day ones, but they do look sporty and are especially designed to be comfy, plus apparently Keen are big on social responsibility and ethics.
You can get these straight from the Keen site.
These lovely shoes are now on SALE! They’re by Beyond Skin, whose shoes are handmade in an ethical and usually eco-friendly fashion.
I love how the modern court shoe look blends with the pretty vintage pattern. These are just so totally hip.
Definitely not a common shoe. Not sure about the name, though. They are called “Maggie” and the first Maggie that springs to my mind is Maggie Thatcher. I hope and assume it’s another Maggie that inspired these, as they are way way too sweet to be named after that mean old bag.
You can get them from Beyond Skin.
Is it a boot? Is it a shoe? What is it? what does it do? I don’t know but I don’t care. I just know I want a pair!
OK, that came out a bit too nursery rhyme there. I blame the cat, who kept me awake half the night because she was scared of the rain. Sleep deprivation is nasty.
But back to the shoes…I even like the crazy orange colour and, rather than reject it on the grounds that I most likely have nothing that would go with these, I am already thinking what I could buy that would go with these. They are just that cool.
These are, of course, Olsen Haus originals, made from their favourite recycled materials – TV screens and microfibre. Coolness on so many levels.
You can get them (somehow) via the Olsen Haus website.
These have been around for a while, but I just saw them pop up on my Amazon widget and realised I’ve never actually featured them properly. They are by Olsen Haus, so ethical and eco-friendly, as well as vegan. Personally, I like the brown and red combination, even though it’s not the sort of colour combination I’d expect to like. Same goes for the fabric and “suede” combination. The strap is cool too, but I did expect to like the strap.
You can get them from Amazon.com
I put a question up to my Twitter readers the other day about whether I should write more about vegan men’s shoes and the keen response seemed to imply people want to see more of these.
I really like these boots from Novacas, especially the fold down thing and tie back lacing. They’re similar to the other vegan Novacas boots I wrote about and while the soles are definitely not as cool, I do like their height and overall look.
You can get them from Moo Shoes.
If you liked the higher heeled vegan oxfords I wrote about recently but aren’t that keen on high heels, then these are definitely the shoes for you. They are small and cute and very flat, apart from having the tiniest heel. they’re also made by NeuAura which is a vegan-owned, ethical company.
They’d make good every day shoes that you could also wear to work.
You can get them from Vickerey.
Actually, these are technically unisex, but I am calling them men’s shoes because A. they look pretty manly and B. it’s been a while since I’ve had anything about vegan men’s shoes on here and I’ve just picked up some new Twitter followers who are decidedly male.
These high tops are made by Vegetarian Shoes in Europe out of hemp and microfibre so are eco-friendly, durable and ethically produced. They are nice and chunky and, while supposedly casual / skate shoes, are actually quite smart-casual. You could totally rock a hipster look in these.
You can get them from Vegetarian Shoes.
I love getting emails from readers and from vegan shoe companies. Today, I got an email from the nice people at NAE about these great-looking vegan boots and, as it happens, I could slot a post about them straight away.
This slouchy knee high look is very much in fashion, so it’s good to get a vegan version made by an ethical, 100% vegan company. NAE are a growing business, so good luck to them. They are not selling too many products at the moment, but hopefully there is more to come. I’m always happy to support vegan and vegetarian businesses.
You can get these boots from the NAE site.
And please do feel free to send me more links to vegan shoes you make or like!
I got so excited about these I accidentally posted this yesterday. If you were fast enough, you got a sneak preview. I could have let you have it, but no. You only get one post a day so here it is.
I gotta say that these utterly delectable vegan boots from Cri de Coeur are making me want to do things to shoes that shouldn’t be discussed in polite company. They have an actual wooden platform – not fake plastic wood. This makes me happy in a special way.
Unlike most shoes with a real wooden platform, though, they are made out of fake suede and fabric, without any leather in sight. The fact that they are also ethical and eco-friendly makes them even sexier.
I think I may actually be in love. Why don’t you run along now and look at them, so I can stay on my own for a little while and look at them too?
You can get them from Endless.com. For $390. Sigh.

These are so lovely! Thank you Karen for bringing these to my attention. I never actually thought I’d like moccasins, but there you go.
These vegan moccasins are handmade to order in NYC by a happy team of only 3 people.
There are three different vegan designs and a bunch of colour combos.
They seem remarkably urban and fashionable for shoes based on traditional costume. They’re also apparently as comfy as they look – a great vegan variation of a traditionally leathery style.
you can get them directly from Save the Manimals.

Olsen Haus shoes never cease to make me happy, so seeing as it’s a slow shoe news day when it comes to new, uncharted designers, I figured it’s time to check their current collection. These lovely red boots are made out of recycled TV screens. I’ve written before about the coolness that is wearing shoes that are made out of tellies. Sexy, eco-minded and subversive, all in the same boot. These have a hot hot wedge and a faux leather belt.
Check them out on the Olsen Haus site.
You’ll need to email them to buy these directly from them. Let me know how it works, as I’ve never tried
The search for nice, vegan every day boots is always a sad, painful one. But here come Vegetarian Shoes to the rescue once again.
These may not be exactly high fashion, but I do like the swirly bits and they look reasonably stylish and very durable and comfy. They have a handy side zip and a grippy sole.
Being a veggie shoe boot, they’re also made ethically and are as eco friendly as possible. Oh yeah, they also come in brown.
You can get them from the Veggie Shoes site.
