Right now, spring is certainly looking pretty far away, but I keep telling myself it’s just around the corner. Of course, one of the best ways to feel better while going through winter is to plan ahead for all the cool spring and summer shoes you’ll be wearing next season. With this in mind, I present these super simple, versatile and darling little mary janes by blog favourites, Melissa Shoes.

They remind me of those cute Chinese shoes that were a big hit in the 90s, but unlike those they are obviously made of Melissa’s patented bubblegum scented plastic and have those big Minnie Mouse bows.

Well, it’s certainly sales season and everywhere you go is selling something off for less than it was. These super cute ankle boots by Novacas are in the Fashion Conscience sale, alongside other great vegan shoes (and some non-vegan shoes, so be careful!). They’re sort of butch and short of femme all at the same time and have that slight alternative chunky edge I really love about Novacas’ shoes. It reminds me of Bronx Shoes a bit, which I also love the look of, but they’re always made of leather (boo hiss).
These boots are reduced by £22 which is not a huge amount, but it’s a nice amount to not have to pay.

Oh look! Someone’s taken my favourite Melissa lace up brogue shoes and have turned them into pretty little boots! Look at how pretty and shiny they are! Like all of Melissa’s stuff, they’re made out of that weird rubbery plastic material that’s actually surprisingly breathable, but not to everyone’s taste. It does, however, smell like bubblegum, which is pretty cool. For something made out of plastic and hailing from Brazil, these are surprisingly retro. I bet they come in different colours too (wouldn’t they be awesome in some sort of bright colour?) but so far I’ve only seen them in black.

It’s time to pay another visit to my favourite vegan Israeli designer – Roni Kantor. These lovelies are from her current winter collection and are certainly retro-esque. She specialises in redesigns and retro-inspired creations in the clothing department but also has this like of shoes consciously made out of leather alternatives.

These work great with dark tights and vintage dresses and have chunky-ish, sold heels making them perfect for offices and parties alike. Love them. Check out the rest of her collection for some more eye-poppingly cute shoes.

Sticking with the rugged knee-high trend, here’s a pair of boots from vegan, ethical company Cri de coeur. They’re a stylish mix of faux leather and faux suede, seen here in black, but you can also get them in a brown combo.

I think now I have the complete set on here – biker-styled knee highs, riding style and cowboy style. I’m really not helping my decision making process here, but there you go.

Just when I thought I found my perfect vegan knee high boots (the Nina ones from Novacas), they go and do it again with this Eliza boot. Now I have to choose whether I want a classic riding boot or this sexy cowgirl offering. I want both!

These have some interesting features, like the brogueing, asymmetrical cuff and, of course, that whole sort of modern meets old cowboy look. The Nina boots are, well, more British.
Which one would you choose? I’ll let you know what I decide!

Lovely lovely Olsenhaus! These gorgeous boots have cut out bits so may not be the most practical of winter boots but they are so beautiful, I’m willing to overlook that part.

Check out their pretty blue platforms and chunky heels! These, like many other Olsenhaus shoes and boots, are made out of recycled TV screens. The microfiber suede looks a lot like real suede but as I gather, it doesn’t mark when wet, as it’s not real suede. Bonus!

These also come in taupe or brown. I think they’re probably past season’s, as the black ones seem to be reduced.

Often I find that when it comes to vegan shoes there’s a shortage of good classic shoes and boots that would last you for many seasons and go with many different looks. These riding boots by Novacas are certainly instant classics and are timeless enough to be worn from now till they die. They are priced accordingly, so don’t expect cheap and cheerful, but it does mean they’re likely to be your friends for many years. You know, I actually think these are exactly the boots I’ve been searching for since god knows when.

These super cute vegan boots from Vegetarian Shoes are in keeping with their “girly but sensible” style and have the advantage of being bright red, which is sure to brighten up a dark winter’s day for just about anyone.

I know they’re going to be a big hit with you guys, because, let’s face it, Veggie Shoes make decent shoes that are comfortable and last, so when they manage to hit the cuteness factor too, we usually have a winner.

Apart from the cute flowers, these boots have handy side zips and are padded, so should make neat casual and fun winter boots, which is handy, because winter is just about the corner.

Ladies! Your essential autumn / winter knee high boots are here! These are made by ethical vegan company Beyond Skin out of fake suede and are perfectly classic and will definitely go with anything. They are handmade in Spain and while certainly more expensive than most vegan shoes we know, are about the same price as you’d pay for a similarly well made leather pair and are of equal quality.

I’m sure they will last for years and, let’s face it, I’ve never seen boots like these go out of fashion.

Although these look unisex, they are actually for women. They’re not exactly ultra feminine in style, but I do love the colours and if you like your style a little bit more comfortable and sensible than classically girlie then you will also love these. They’re not cheap but they are handmade in the UK and will last you forever (especially as they can be refurbished). They’re made by Freerangers who make a whole big range of vegan shoes and bags, including, you may be interested in discovering, a Celtic range of vegan sporrans and related items for the cruelty-free Scottish gentleman.

Vegetarian Shoes have their summer sale on right now so you can grab some real bargains if you happen to have the right size of feet. Some shoes are reduced to only £10, though there are only a few pairs left in stock. These, however, still seem to be available for quite a few sizes, though they are a bit more expensive (still half price, though!). They come in this shade of black or in white and are sort of flashy in a way I’m sure will appeal to some of you guys. Apparently they make a clip clop sound when you walk, too! They are implied to be unisex but start at a European 41 (UK 8, I believe) and are also quite masculine in shape. Still, they may well fit your style even if you are a woman who happens to have big feet!

I usually use Twitter to spread the word about shoes featured on this blog, but sometimes it actually delivers cool vegan shoes to me. In this case, it actually delivered a vegan shop and I found these cool sneakers / trainers on there. These are made out of natural cotton (the uppers) and recycled car tyres and natural rubber (soles). They look really casual and comfortable and are made by Simple Shoes who have a whole ethical thing going on as well.

You can probably get these from all kinds of places, but why not buy from The Chocolate Shoebox and support a vegan owned and run business? They’re in Seattle, but you can order stuff online from wherever.

I just realised it’d been only women’s shoes on here recently and not even flats! So let’s take a moment to go back to earthier times, with a pair of lovely, ethical shoes for the country gentleman (or the urban gentleman who’s got an eye for that tweedy, retro-esque style). These lovely “Exeter Shoes” are based on an Oxford shoe lace up style and are hand made in the UK by Green Shoes, a small, ethical and eco company. You can order their shoes in a variety of vegan colours, including some less common ones for men’s shoes such as red, purple and green. Their shoes are not cheap, but they are very reasonable when you consider the amount of work that goes into them and the fact that they will last you more or less a lifetime (and can be cheaply resoled to extend their life even further).

These black faux suede and silvery mesh heels from Olsen Haus are like something straight out of the new Tron movie. I like how classy and simple the design is, while also being quite clever and futuristic. Really, with hot designer shoes like these, you don’t really need to worry too much about the rest of your outfit. A simple but expertly designed black dress would do, though I personally would try and find a little bit of extra silver to match these to. I’m sure that breaks a million fashion rules, but hey, who cares. These shoes need to be celebrated.
