Summer isn’t over yet, so if you’re still looking for a smartish pair of vegan sandals you could do worse than checking out this style by ethical vegan shoe company Novacas.
They are pretty generic so would go with any look you want to throw at them and while pretty flat, actually have a tiny but chic heel that looks quite flattering while still being close enough to flat to be comfortable.
You can get them from the Mooshoes website.
These retrolicious closed toe nautical espadrilles by Red or Dead are, perhaps unsurprisingly, called “Ahoy”.
They are currently in the Schuh sale for only £15, which I think is a damn fine deal.
They have a serious bit of ankle and heel strap to hold your foot in place and are very sumery and cute.
There are only a few sizes still left, so I’d hurry up if I were you. They also come in classic black and white, like most nautical espadrilles and wedges I’ve seen around this summer.
You can get them in the Schuh Sale.
Here’s a really cool concept! Thanks to Marta at SwapTopShoes.com for letting me know.
These shoes basically come with interchangeable tops, so you can get more wear out of each pair by changing the way the top half looks. There are all kinds of different soles and tops to choose from, from flip flops to these sort of heels I have here.
I think it’s cool as it means you can take one pair of shoes on holiday with you, plus a bunch of tops for them that pack up quite small. Then you can just swap them round to go with your outfits.
Here’s what the bottom bit looks like without a top.

As you can see, the tops clip onto those bits down the side. I’ve not tried them myself to see how strong those bits are. They’d need to be quite strong clips to keep the top on through heavy use!
You can get these and the rest of the range at SwapTopShoes.com
Well, the sale is definitely on at Office Shoes, so it’s time to check out the vegan offerings and grab a few bargains. These sweet and simple vegan slingbacks are only £15 right now and if the British summer is to continue as well as it has been then you can never have too many cute sandals.
I’ve tagged these with retro mostly because of the polka dots, but I think they’re retro-esque enough to play along nicely with vintage stuff. Apart from that they look like they could be fun shoes to wear with just about anything summery.
They come in a bunch of different colours and you can get them from…yup, Office.
Another mad one from Melissa Shoes. How can sandals look at once so stylish and so crazy?
Yes, that is a plastic mouse stuck on the side of the sandal. Don’t ask me why there is a plastic mouse there, there just is. However, the funky pattern makes these sandals look oddly classy for footwear adorned with a plastic mouse. I actually tagged these with smart casual, as I think you could get away with wearing them somewhere that requires a fashionable attire but can tolerate a certain amount of funk.
I found these on the Melissa site (where there are plenty more colours) but these particular ones are on sale from the Asos site.
These hand made vegan bohemian / hippie sandals are so very sexy!!
I love the ankle tie that’s apparently made out of vintage sari material (silk free).
Check out the picture of them being worn on the site to see the full effect of how totally lush they look when on actual feet.
I found these on the Neon Collective site, a very fab vegan boutique.
They’ve got red, they’ve got raffia bits and they have a noticeable, but reasonable heel (6cm) – these sandals are really rather cute.
They’re currently on sale as well at Debenhams, which is where I’ve been doing some digging lately to find some new summery vegan shoes.
I know Debenhams aren’t exactly alternative shoe central, but I think these have just enough quirk in them to be able to fit in with a slightly unusual outfit, don’t you?
Get them at, of course, the Debenhams site.
These lovely, earthy sandals from eco UK shoemakers, Green Shoes, are just so cute! I love the blue and pink colour combo but apparently you can order them in single colour or different colour combinations too. The circle T-bar is different and funky and the design is pretty timeless.
Green shoes are highly ethical and eco-friendly. Their shoes are all handmade and while not cheap, are extremely well made and they do lifetime repairs very cheaply, meaning you could keep the shoes more or less forever.
You can get these at the Green Shoes website.
These cute low wedges sandals from M&S are functional, cute and dressy enough, even though they are practically flat.
They’d look great with jeans or summery dresses and would work well as funky holiday shoes. Nothing too high fashion or outrageous, but perfectly nice if you match them with something fun.
They look pretty sturdy and easy to walk around in, too, which helps if you’re going to take them out on the town on your holiday.
You can get them from the M&S site.
It’s been a while since I looked on the Marks and Spencer’s website and they seem to have quite a few exciting additions to their vegan shoe range (it’s not advertised as such, but there’s definitely a range of very vegan shoes there).
Here’s a pair of perfectly lovely summery wedges, with polka dots – everyone’s favourite pattern! (well, mine anyway). Check out their understated retro charm, in that special M&S way that’s Oh so English. Simple and effective. Like!
They also come in a very nautical red white and blue version. Awesome!
You can get them from the M&S site.
Here’s a pair of cute summery sandals from Miss L Fire.
They have a little wedge heel that’s feminine but not precarious and a rather mumsy flowery pattern that’s really rather cute.
It’s not exactly pin up or retro material like some of their other heels but is still very girlie and sweet and probably more practical for everyday activities.
You can get these from Amazon.
Vegan Shoe Addict is now entering summer party mode, where service will occasionally be intermittent.
I will be away this weekend at the ATP festival. Normal service will resume when I get back
It’s been a while since I’ve written about Melissa Shoes. Days at least! So here’s another style from their amazing summer range.
These flats are simple but the ribbing makes them stand out and look unusual enough to be interesting and instantly fashionable and fun. They come in lots of different funky colours and smell like bubblegum (I’m not kidding. All their shoes smell of bubblegum).
They’re made of a special sort of rubbery plastic that’s reasonably breathable and certainly comfortable. Shoes run a size small.
You can get them from the Amazon.com site.
I must say I quite like these weird anti-flip flop style sandals. I’m not sure what they’d be like to actually wear, but they look fun and cool and are apparently made in India from natural rubber.
They come in lots of different colour combinations. I obviously favour the red and black version, but there are others equally funky.
These come from Vegetarian Shoes and are currently on sale so only cost a tenner. A great choice if you’re in the market for a pair of flip flops but want something a little bit unusual and different.
You can get them from the Vegetarian Shoes Site.
I’ve said before on this blog that there seems to be a shortage of vegan shoes with real wooden heels. I have since then found a few pairs of vegan shoes with wooden heels, but these shoes are not one of them (I’ll write about those later).
A pretend wood heel is definitely not quite as cool as a real wooden heel, but I do like the shape of these shoes, plus the coral colour is different and rather nice.
These are shoes that could lend themselves to a seemingly out of their league outfit if you did it right, matched the colours and didn’t try to go too high up the class scale.
With a cheery summery dress they could look very cute indeed. They also come in a grey colour, which could be useful.
You can get them from Dorothy Perkins.
So cork, wood, etc. seem to be one of the trends of this summer. I’ve seen so many cork heels recently, though generally it’s been wedges. Here’s a pair with a more standard heel.
These high-heeled sandals from Neuaura seem to balance the natural look with a very shiny silver party look. They also come in bronze, which probably fits better with the cork colour, but I do like silver best, so I put these on here instead.
It’s like futuristic space travel meets earthy, hippie world at a work do. Like Avatar if it were filmed in the 90s and working in a hip office.
You can get these from Mooshoes.
