Vegan nautical pumps

vegan nautical pumps It’s back to the seven seas with another pair of nautical shoes! This time on the good ship Lollipop, we have these cute striped flats with a big red bow. Cuteness!

Although not sandals, these are definitely beach-ready in style and would look pretty cool on holiday (or in your every day environment if you have the nautical outfits to match and are feeling frisky). You can never have too many nautical things, if you ask me, and these are a fine option if you don’t want towering wedges, giant retro heels or anything else likely to make you fall overboard.

Simple, sweet and not too expensive, these are, so set sail to the Office website and grab yourself some fine loot.

Vegan heart flat pumps

vegan flat pumps with heart How thoroughly odd. For some reason this post originally appeared empty but for a giant pic of these shoes. What can I say? My original intention was to include a somewhat more containable image of these and to write about how very jolly cute they are. They remind me of the dragon lady shoes by Melissa shoes, only they are flat. If you want to wear your heart on your, er, shoe but don’t like wearing heels, then now you can still sport a pair of bright red hearts (or different colour hearts, as there are a bunch of different options to choose from).

These are definitely pretty kooky, but you could still work them into an every day outfit if you wanted to be just a little bit different.

You can get these from Office.

Fun vegan rubber strawberry pumps

vegan strawberry pumps Another pair of shoes for girls with a good sense of fun. These silly rubber pumps, apart from being cute, will also stop your feet from getting wet (in extremely shallow puddles), but let’s not pretend anyone would ever buy these for reasons of practicality. If you’ve got a hidden Strawberry Shortcake inside you, then you’ll love jumping about in these. Check out the neat polka dot pattern inside, too!

They also come in another loud pattern that’s definitely not strawberry-oriented, but is sort of retro 70s European mixed with chic green and white polka dots inside.

You can get either one at the Chinese Laundry site.

super cute vegan demin flats

vegan denim flats These are so cute! You have to check out all the other photos, though, to appreciate their full cute glory. I mean, are these the cutest soles ever? Seriously, you gotta click through to the site then click “view all images”. Really, really cool.

The lining is great too. I just love the level of attention to detail that makes seriously cool shoes out of a very simple concept that’s practically been done to death.

What else can I say? These are very very girlie and cute, but also practical and fun without making too much of a fuss about being really really cool. they’re called sandy pump flats, which you’ll need to know if you want to find them on the site.

You can get them at Schuh.

Mad vegan rockabilly cork wedges

vegan rockabilly cork wedges Well, it doesn’t get much crazier than this, does it? I’m not sure where you’d wear these to, how, what with or why, but here they are. They are pretty over the top in every way possible. I mean, they’ve got a wedge, they’ve got colourful tattoo designs, there’s some sort of dangly thing at the back and there’s even one with leopard print. Someone’s obviously taken every possible new rockabilly trick in the book and put it into a shoe.

I guess you need to be a very particular kind of person to be able to carry these off and do them justice and if you are that person, then you’re already reaching for your card and counting the minutes till your emotional meeting. I salute you!

You can get these by following this link.

Vegan girlie Crocs slingbacks

vegan casual pumps Here’s a nice pair of Crocs from the Cloggs sale. As you can see, they are somewhat more refined than their usual clog-like variety. They’re still made out of the same squidy, comfy material, but you could actually blend these with an every day outfit without your Crocs being blatantly out of place. I like the little bit of bling they’ve added to the strap, too.

Let’s face it, these aren’t the most stylish shoes, but they are the most stylish Crocs I’ve seen so far. I think most people wouldn’t even know they were Crocs if it weren’t for the blatant logo on the front (yeah, what’s with that?).

I’d say, if you find Crocs very comfortable and would want to wear them with everything but are not so keen on actually having the Croc-wearing unisex look, then go for these. They look 10 times better than the usual ones, you could wear them with anything and they’re actually pretty cheap.

They come in a range of colours (I counted 4 on the site – black, red, gold and brown). The black is the one most likely to pass as a normal shoe, though I do quite like the red.

You can now get 5% off the price of these (or any other shoes on there) if you buy these off the Cloggs site and use the voucher code: JAN36T before January 26.

Outrageous vegan polka dot wedges

vegan polka dot wedges Ooooh check these out! Yes, they are also in the sale, yes they are pretty damn cheap and… well, just look at them!

They are by Miss L Fire, a company that makes really really beautiful shoes…usually made from leather. Bleah. These, however, are canvas. They look like proper old-style wedges, with the added twist of having totally outrageous patterning. That’s some kind of flowery piping mixed in with the polka dot mass. I’m still not entirely sure what I’d wear them with, but when you see shoes like this at this price, you should really buy first and ask questions later.

I know that it may be hard to think ahead to summer when the UK is experiencing the coldest winter in the last 100 years, but for a mere £22.50 summer can start just a little bit early for some of you.

Yup, these are in the Office Sale.

Striped vegan peep toe wedges

vegan wedge heels Look what I found in the sale for only £10! I know it’s snowing (in some places) but these are the sort of thing that doesn’t go out of style. Classic raffia base, practically nautical stripes… you know the score! Simple, effective and incredibly useful. For this price you can get them now and put them away till spring.

8 CM is about, what, 3 inches? That’s not too bad for heels. I wonder if they’d make good dancing shoes. You know, for swing or lindy hop or stuff like that. Who knows. For £10 it’s worth a go. Worst case scenario you just wear them with your vintage dress or skinny jeans and pretend.

They also come in a whole load of other (solid) colours, all for the same price. Beware of the brown suede ones though!

These are available from Office.

I have been going through the Office site and looking for bargains and have found quite a few. Pay attention over the next few days as I tell you about some other cool retro wedge surprises!

Weird vegan Alladin shoes

vegan Alladin shoes Well, Christmas is not long gone and if you’re in the UK, you’d have no doubt been surrounded by pantomimes, including this year’s hit Alladin, starring Brian Blessed and Pamela Anderson. Alternatively, you may have seen the trailer for next summer’s long-awaited Prince of Persia film. You know what I’m getting at, right? Do I need to explain the joke further? OK!

If you’ve been harbouring dreams of having your very own genie or being a grand wazir (or vizier, if you will), then here’s your chance to dress the part, or at least to top off your harem pants and embroidered vest with the perfect pair of matching shoes!

These pointy, spotty shoes are your magic carpet to a world of desert fantasy. They are by Irregular Choice and are called Mary Piper. These are one of the only pairs of shoes of theirs I’ve ever seen that don’t have some kind of hidden leather enemy conceleaed somewhere in the lining, which is a shame, cause some of their shoes don’t actually look like they were made by and for Disney.

I’m really not sure what you’d wear these with, but they’re vegan and weird so I’m going to write about them as I’m sure someone somewhere would be very excited to be able to wear them. Personally, I love the whole upward pointy toe thing, though I think I’d be happier with a less clown-like pattern on mine. Still, anything for a laugh, right?

You can get them from Schuh.

Glittery gold vegan flat pumps

Vegan gold flat pumps Yes, it’s that time again when I write about another super cool pair of shoes by Melissa Shoes.
Here’s a sweet little pair of glittery gold shiny flats. They’re made of the flock material which is kinda velvety to the touch but actually made of special plastic. There’s contrasting toes and soles in the smooth plastic too and really cute ribbons to tie the whole thing together (pun somewhat intended).

They’re certainly unusual and funky. There are so many flat ballet pumps out there, but these have a nice twist and would make cute going out shoes or cute going home shoes if you normally like wearing heels when you go out.

They come in a few other colours too, including a very understated grey that you could probably even wear with work clothes. After all, these don’t actually look like they’re made of plastic!

You can get these vegan gold pumps on the Amazon.co.uk site .

Funky vegan flat lace up pumps by Babycham

rockabilly flash vegan shoes These simple but cute flat lace up pumps by Babycham are called “Rockabilly Flash”. I’m not quite sure why they’re called rockabilly. Maybe it’s because they sort of look a bit like bowling shoes or maybe they look like they’d be nice to have a dance in. Of course, it could all be a clever bit of marketing, but who cares? They’re pretty.

They are black and somewhat shiny with the perforated patent-effect look and have a slightly pointy toe and a white embroidered babycham logo on the back. I like the fact that the top eyelets for the laces are star-shaped and the colourful lining is a nice touch as well, though obviously less noticable when you’re wearing them.

These look wicked on. You could wear them instead of pilms or trainers and they’d fit right in but look slightly different at the same time. They come in this black colour or a slightly odd white with multi-coloured eyelets and a red embroidered logo.

Available (in the UK at least) exclusively from Schuh.

Vegan rocking horse shoes

shoes 002
Here’s a trip down memory lane to warm you up on a cold winter’s day. Remember these?

I was walking past Selfridges today and they had a Vivienne Westwood window display. Obviously, I was checking out the funky footwear and caught a glimpse of these famous rocking horse shoes (as seen here worn by a plastic man).

You may remember these from the time when Naomi Campbell fell over wearing them in 1993. 1993? why that must mean they’re vintage 90s! (don’t mind me, I’m still getting over the fact that 80s stuff is considered retro / vintage now!)

Anyway, these are obviously not vegan – they’re very much leather, as you’d expect from most high fashion designer shoes.

But my encounter with these has jogged my memory and reminded me
I have seen a vegan version (read: cheap knock off) of this iconic shoe floating around on eBay. Sadly, the vegan version is not only made with faux leather but also with faux wood (it seems to be an either or situation for some bizarre reason).

Still, the shoes are vegan so now you too could look like a manga character, or maybe even fall over!

There’s a whole bunch of different styles available from eBay. This style is huge in Japan sothe vast majority of the the current rocking horse shoes come from Japan and Hong Kong.

Here’s one of the many vegan rocking horse shoes listings and here’s a pair of wicked vegan rocking horse boots.
You can, of course, search for “rocking horse shoes” on there and weed out the few and far between originals.

And now for even happier news! The window display also contained a couple of Westwood’s creations for Melissa Shoes, so you can rejoyce, knowing you can actually wear a genuine current fashion trend (bonafide, honest to god Vivienne Westwood shoes) without having to resort to a cheap fake!

Vegan hippie laced pumps

Here are some nice year-round shoes from Green shoes, an ethical, handmade shoe company from the UK.

These may look a bit odd in this photo, but check them out on the Green Shoes site where they are modelled with a sparkly pair of tights.

Yes, we’re definitely talking earthy hippie chic here, but quite upmarket hippie chic, so if there’s a hidden bohemian artist or organic gardener in you, now’s the time to come out and wear your lentils with pride!
Some of their other shoes are way too too hippie for my own personal liking, but these I think are quite nice and versatile.
The flat pump look is very “sensible”, but the lacing is really girlie. They would look lovely with a dress and they come in a wide range of colours. They’re not cheap but are handmade to last and can returned to Green Shoes to be easily resoled and repaired for a pretty small fee, so would last for years. I assume they are also pretty comfortable.

Green shoes are ethical and environmentally-aware and while they make shoes out of leather as well, their glues don’t contain animal products, so their vegan shoes are truly vegan.

You can get these vegan lace up pumps at Green shoes.

Vegan black high platform shoes (chunky heel)

If you’re feeling low and need a little pick-me-up, then how does an extra 5″ sound? No, not that kind of inches, you perverts! These huge huge goth mary jane platform heels by T.U.K.

These are probably the highest you can get this side of full-on stripper heels. They are called “bondage”, perhaps because of the multitude of straps.

“Maybe”, I hear some of you say, “because the heels are so high, you’d feel like you were tied up when trying to walk”. But no, my uninitiated ones, the chunky heel and platform should actually make these a relative breeze to walk (and dance) in.
In their own way, these are actually pretty sensible shoes. The flared heel means they stop short of being your standard fetish shoes (too comfortable, you see).

Not quite your office shoes either (unless your office is pretty damn cool), these are nonetheless pretty versatile when it comes to a range of alternative looks. T.U.K make the bread and butter shoes of many an alternative scene, offering a look that stands out from the uninitiated, “normal” crowds, but still follows all the fashion rules that make up the non-conformist uniform.

You could spike up an otherwise sweet retro ensemble, go for full psychobilly, dark rock chick or goth or just use these as an aid to reach high shelves or look down on people.

T.U.K shoes are generally stable and comfortable (I own a few pairs), though they do sometimes tend to scuff and mark easily. Luckily, they’re pretty cheap.

These vegan platform heels are available from Schuh.

Vegan black and white mary janes

Next directory mary janes These cute little black and white mary jane heels are simple but effective. The heel isn’t too high, so they appear to be pretty comfortable even if heels are not your thing (although the pointy heel can take a bit of getting used to if you can’t walk in heels at all).

They are still very girlie and chic, though, and don’t look too “sensible”. They would certainly dress up any outfit and the black/white combination means they would go with most things.

While not quite retro in design, the colour combination certainly is, so they could fit a whole range of looks from modern to vintage, as long as you’re not too precious about being 100% authentic in your vintage look. Great as work shoes or party shoes and not too expensive, at less than £30.

Available from Next Directory.
