These crazy big platform vegan heels are like all of my shoe dreams rolled into one. They’re huge, they’re retro, they’re totally over the top and they’ve got polka dots. If you ever wanted to be like a foot taller then now’s your chance (OK, they’re not quite that high, but at 5.5 inches, they’re plenty tall enough).
Absolutely everyone would notice you if you were wearing these, which makes these the perfect shoes for you if you love being the centre of attention. Otherwise you’re probably better off wearing shoes that don’t scream so loud.
While the blurb talks about wooden soles, I don’t actually think it’s actual wood, but rather some fake wood. I could be wrong, though. Wouldn’t that be cool? Either way, these are, as they say, made of awesome.
You can get them from Modcloth.

Well, London is burning today and everyone’s got their new trainers already, so why not take a break from the madness in favour of a different kind of madness – wedge madness!
These hot hot glitter wedges are new from Schuh and while not the best footwear to be kicking in shop windows or running away from angry mobs or riot police, it’s probably the prettiest thing I’ve seen all day.
Here’s to more pretty things and less idiots.
You can get these shoes from the Schuh website. Stay safe, London.
Totally loving these amazing glitter platform heels from Schuh! Towering high at 14CM with a nice retro-esque pin uppy platform is impressive enough, but these are in amazing blue glitter. What a brilliant colour in every way.
Just imagine how amazing these would look with a 50s vintage dress, a little black dress, a catsuit, a showgirl outfit or pretty much anything you can think of.
I know I have quite a few vegan diva readers lurking away somewhere to this one goes out to you. It’s time to put these on and shine line a true bombshell and dance around with the best of em.
You can get these amazingly awesome shoes from Schuh.
Update! I’ve been emailed and told this company may be out of business. Have emailed to check, but if it’s true, it might mean we’re all admiring these from afar! I suggest you don’t try to buy these before emailing the company and seeing if they still exist. I have emailed them myself and will update when I hear back.
Here’s something that’s not easy to find – vegan tango shoes! Well, these can be used for all kinds of ballroom and Latin dances, I guess, but they’re supposedly for tango, which is great, cause that’s what I dance. Usually, you get suede soles, which means even the satin / other fabric / fake leather tango shoes have a dirty little secret at the bottom. These, however, use some type of fake suede instead, which is supposedly still good for dancing but is not made out of dead animal. I’m yet to try these and see how good they are (they’re priced like proper tango shoes, that’s for sure!) but will report if and when I can afford to buy them.
In the meantime, you can get them here. They are priced in Euros, so I assume they come from Europe. They have a whole range of vegan dance shoes and sneakers, so definitely worth a look.
Just had these appear in my Facebook feed. They’re pretty mad in every way – crazy height, mad (and rare) cherry pie print (the complete product, as opposed to simply the cherries themselves) and some sort of mad diamante brooch thing on the front. They’re definitely making a statement. I’m not sure what that statement is, but whatever it is, they’re making it now.
What’s more, they’re currently reduced from £60 to £35, which makes them a pretty good deal.
You can get them from the Schuh website.
Would you believe these beautiful Vivienne Westwood heels are vegan and made of that special Melissa Shoes plastic? Aren’t they totally awesome? These are probably the most “adult” shoes she’s designed for Melissa. I don’t mean adult in an adult movie way but in a grown up way. I love all the shoes she’s done for Melissa but they have certainly been very playful, obviously drawing inspiration from the materials and appealing to quite a fashion-savvy, young at heart audience that’s not afraid of wearing quirky plastic shoes.
These, on the other hand, while they do come in a few loud, plastic colours, are much more serious-looking. You could wear them to your gallery opening and still get away with it. One assumes they look more rubbery in person than on the Internet, but I still reckon you’d need to be pretty close to notice.
Either way, you can get them from Endless.
Here’s a pair of fun, simple and cheap high heeled sandals from our friends at Payless, the thrifty vegan’s secret stash store. They might not be your choice for the NY fashion show, but they may well serve you at the Vegas pool party.
Apart from this white colour, they also come in black, a cheap-looking denim colour and another shade which is very similar to this shade’s lining.
Basically, these are fun, summery shoes that may not last you 15 years, but will definitely provide some good times while they do last. Seeing as most self respecting fashionistas wouldn’t be seen anywhere near a Payless store, you can also rest in the knowledge that you’re likely to be the only one wearing these. I do so love that about buying from the cheap stores. I’ll leave it up to you whether to tell people where you got these when they inevitably ask.
You can get them from Payless.
Woohoo! Another cute pair of perfectly summery shoes from Poetic License. These are called “Sweet Shirley Temple”, I guess because they’re super cute and are made with chintzy patterned fabric that looks like something your granny would have worn as a summer dress or used as curtains. Note the super-cute tiny little cherry beads, too!
These lovely lovely wedges come in black or pink as well. You can get them all from Endless.
Brace yourself for a big name to fit these big big wedge sandals: “Schuh Garda Ankle Strap Wedge”. You’ll need the name to search for them on the Schuh site. Aren’t they awesome and retro-licious? Towering high above the world with a 13cm heel they may be a bit demanding for the average user, but boy are they hot! Supposedly 70s inspired, though I reckon the gingham means they’d go well with 50s dresses too. The 70s seem to be back in style this summer. Weren’t they already back in style a few years back? Or has it been long enough for the style to become re-retro?
Either way, you can get these from Schuh in the UK and worldwide.
And tonight on “Shoes that make you go oooooooooh” – these sandals by Harajuku Lovers! They are so, so so so cute.
They come in black, white, red or yellow and each colour has its own cool little lady on the insole. It’s almost like a collect them all Pokemon thing and, frankly, at $35 a pair, it’s almost tempting to get a few different colours. I love the sexy wedge that’s just high enough to give you a nice profile but not too insane and I love the girlie bow. I also have a thing for jelly shoes, so I may be a bit biased, but I think these would make perfect summer shoes for everywhere and everything. If you’re the sort of person who likes even your casualest of beachwear to have a classy retro touch, then these are your sandals.
You can get them from Endless.
There’s a time and a place for trashy gold heels and when the time comes. It’s good to know that you can get fairly decent vegan ones from H&M. These happy strappy gold sandals are out for spring, so if you feel the need to stylishly pimp up your personal style, you can grab a pair of these. With a tight black outfit without too many other bells and whistles, these could actually look almost classy, but you can go wild with your imagination if you want to look super 80s trashy style and match them with some sort of loud hipster ensemble for the full effect.
You can get them at H&M.
These black faux suede and silvery mesh heels from Olsen Haus are like something straight out of the new Tron movie. I like how classy and simple the design is, while also being quite clever and futuristic. Really, with hot designer shoes like these, you don’t really need to worry too much about the rest of your outfit. A simple but expertly designed black dress would do, though I personally would try and find a little bit of extra silver to match these to. I’m sure that breaks a million fashion rules, but hey, who cares. These shoes need to be celebrated.
You can get them from Olsen Haus. They cost $255.
These Poetic License shoes are called “apple pie” and they’re as yummy as can be. Apart from this super cute pink colour, they also come in a similarly pastel blue and also in black.
They have a pretty retro profile and a super sweet little apple on the side for that extra nice little touch to make them special. Great all-seasons urban shoes to go with your retro look or add a retro edge to any other outfit without sacrificing modern trendiness.
You can get them from Irregular Choice.
Every once in a while I have to remind myself that normal people in normal society don’t actually drool over shoes. This is definitely one of those times. They’re so so cute. They’re made by Harajuku Lovers, Gwen Stefani’s line, which probably explains why they have a very Japanese-looking profile. I love the double girly bow and the slightly twisted silver studs. The peep toe thing gives you a chance to show off your toes and the killer heels give you a chance to tower over everyone else.
The good news is that these also come in black. The bad news is that there are only a few sizes left in either.
If you’re quick, you can get them on Amazon / Endless.
It’s almost spring! So I’ve decided to write about these lovely green satin party heels by Beyond Skin.
They have a delicate striped pattern that’s almost understatedly retro, but mostly they’re shiny and a little bit sparkly (they have a diamante buckle).
Great for spring and summer parties or your holiday in Monaco.
If you don’t know about Beyond Skin yet, check them out. They’re a British company based in Brighton and they make beautiful shoes.
In the USA, you can buy these from Amazon / Endless.
