Just look at these mad heels! Yes, that’s a clear heel they’ve got, just like the carved lucite heels of yore. I’m not sure this is lucite (in fact, I’m pretty sure it isn’t), but it’s still pretty damn cool. I like the pattern as well. It actually reminds me of summer blankets from the late 60s / early 70s. I’ve put them on as party shoes cause you could (and should) definitely wear them out somewhere fancy, but the pattern makes them almost more suitable for being day shoes, I think.
My first thought when I saw these was that the big bow was going to be made of leather, but no! Add that to Irregular Choice’s (for it is they who make these shoes) recent habit of lining their shoes with velvet and you’ve got a very nice pair of non-leather heels. To-ta-lly brilliant!
You can get these from Schuh.
Check out these hot and stylish vegan designer shoes from Olsenhaus! These guys are known as being favourites for all kinds of ethical celebs, so don’t be surprised if you see these parading on a red carpet somewhere. Of course, fake comes with a price and the price, in this case, ain’t cheap.
what can I say? If you can afford them and love your shoes, you will spend the $250 and get yourself a pair. Personally, if I were going to spend that much cash on a shoe I’d get their vegan recycled TV wedges, but if you’re looking for something for the ambassador’s reception then these are the ones.
You can get them from the Olsenhaus website, though you need to email them to buy.
Another pair of pretty designer heels from Cri de Coeur. These blue suede-like sandals come in black as well and are definitely very now, meaning they follow the current trend of boot / sandald hybrids. I’m not at all sure I’m wild about this trend (OK, let’s be honest here, lots of that stuff is pretty vile) but I quite like these cause they have quite classic lines and they appear to be rather flattering on the foot.
New York, you’ve done it again!
You can get these off the Cri de Coeur site.
Oh so stylish! These woven wedges from Olsen Haus are so brilliantly timeless and beautiful.
To make them even more cool – they are made out of recycled TVs! Recycled, cool and just a tiny little bit rebellious (you know, kinda like throwing away your television, but turning it into hot shoes instead).
I tweeted about these before when they were announced, but there was no direct link to buy any at the time. I think Olsen Haus make a few shoes out of TVs. These wedges are my current favourites.
Now you can buy these are Amazon.com
Well well well, another fine shoe from Olsen Haus. They are certainly not 80s-free but they are oh so bold and stylish. I’m really loving the combination of the two patterns.
They are called “Swim” – maybe because the blue pattern looks like the surface of a swimming pool? It reminds me of those movies about condo complexes in LA in the 80s.
These are on sale at Neon Collective, which is a very cool vegan online boutique in the UK. I’ve had an email from them a while back and never got around to including them here for some reason, but it’s about time I did. They have lots of other cool shoes, including a big range of Olsen Haus stuff.
The direct link to the above shoes is here.
Work shoes can be so depressing even if you wear leather, so finding nice-looking vegan work clothes that won’t make you feel dumpy or kill your feet by being cheap and crappy is not easy.
So here’s a pair of Stella McCartney smart flats that are sexy, stylish and very respectable. Work shoes you’ll actually want to wear, rather than feel that you have to.
The good news is that they are heavily discounted, as they are not this season’s. The bad news is that there are only a few sizes left on the site and they are all pretty small.
Good if you have a respectable job, hate wearing high heels (or fancy good flats too) and have small feet!
You can get these from The Outnet.
Oh these are very cool. They are officially unisex, which means you can get them in women’s sizes too, though I think they are really more manly than girly.
They come in a few colour and material choices, but so far this plaid fabric option is the only vegan style. They’re certainly pretty amazing, though, these. I totally love Fluevog shoes and I’m really glad there’s at least one vegan style for both men and women (though I’d love to see plenty more).
If your inner hipster has been withering away inside, in need of some really hot vegan shoes to wear, then these are totally it. Although they are effectively simple casual shoes, they do it oh so well with that extra bit of X-factor most shoe companies would kill to have.
You can get these from the Fluevog site.
Well, I was at an event at a designer fashion boutique last night where there was supposedly a sale on this year’s Vivienne Westwood winter collection. Well, to be fair, there was a sale, but I had forgotten how much that stuff costs to begin with, so left with nothing but some pictures of one attendee’s vegan shoes (that will follow), a glass of cheap champagne and an expensive hangover.
This, however, reminded me of the joy of Melissa Shoes and how everyone can affordably own a pair of beautiful Vivienne Westwood shoes, albeit in funky plastic.
These are the famed Melissa Ultragirl shoes, with added bow (lovely) and a whole new see-through leopard print thing going on. Spot the very obvious Vivienne Westwood logo on the side. You can also get them in black with a leopard print bow, though I quite like this version myself.
I found these on Amazon.com
Oh sweet mother of awesome! Fluevog make such gorgeous shoes but I always thought they were all leather. But while it’s true they are 99% leather, they also make a couple of vegan ones and these absolutely lovely vintage / retro boots are one of those styles.
Just the heel alone is worth spending the money. Oh yeah, they are totally not cheap, these, but they are ever so delectable so why let a few hundred bucks come between you and true love?
Considering how hot their leather shoes are, having ones made of microfibre or canvas or whatever these are seems a bit, well, second best, but it’s definitely more eco-friendly than having shoes made out of PVC. Plus, you need only look at these to realise how incredibly hot they’re going to make you look.
You can get these from Endless.com
I’m always happy to discover a new designer vegan footwear company. This time it’s Charmone, who make ethical, eco-friendly vegan shoes in Italy, apparently using some sort of microfibers that look and feel like leather. There you go.
I do love these very unusual red platforms. Check out the shield thing at the front. Somewhat oriental and it definitely turns an otherwise bog standard platform sandal into something of a conversation piece.
You can get these directly from Chamone.
These are amazing! Yes, they are really made out of recycled plastic bags. The woman who makes them apparently heats up the bags or something and the process transforms them into a flexible, non-toxic material fit for shoe-making.
The inside of the boots is apparently lined with fabric to make them easier on the feet. Check out the website for photos of the different colours and patterns there are. Absolutely amazing! Apparently they only cost $45 too!
The bad news is that this is a blog, in Spanish and the Facebook group I found says that the designer has not been answering emails lately (even before the recent earthquake, so hopefully not related).
I will update this post if and when I hear more about how to buy these. I so want a pair (or several!)
The designer’s name is Camila Labra and her blog is here.
Another one for the designer vegan shoe collection! Mink Shoes make a range of thoroughly Italian-looking heels, of which these are a fine example.
I find some of their shoes a bit odd-looking, but I do like these. I mean, they are still quite odd-looking, but it certainly does work. These are called “chick”, I guess because of the yellow. All their shoes are named after animals, my favourite name being, of course, the “cock” shoe, which is pointy and red.
The far more virginal chicks can be gotten from Heels.com
My dream summer shoes are here!
These are just so lovely in so many ways. I love the bright red colour, I love the flower design that’s just so weird and wonderful and I love the fact that they’re by Melissa Shoes, so will therefore smell like bubble gum for a while. My feet will be very happy once I get my hands on a pair of these.
They are apparently designed by Brazilian designer, Isabela Capeto especially for Melissa, which explains the girlie, beach-girl charm they have.
You can get these from Coggles.
I sort of like Stella McCartney. I’d like to like her more than I do, because the world needs more vegan designer shoes, but she does use “eco-leather” in some of her shoes, which is not very vegan or even vegetarian. It’s like having a gourmet restaurant that says it’s vegetarian and then serves fish. Still, some of her shoes are indeed vegan and very gorgeous, like these plastic-fantastic heels that are just…wow. I’m not entirely sold on the colour, but am loving the design and the use of lucite, which instantly takes me back to the spirit of the 50s, before plastic became the material of choice.
This is when I get really happy about having vegan (or mostly vegan) designers out there, as vinyl shoes are not unheard of in high-fashion circles, but you’ll usually get something cruel and unnecessary like a leather lining or insole to make you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.
Here you can just enjoy the beauty of the shoe itself.
You can get these (at a discounted price) from TheOutnet.com
New York City – vegan designer shoe capital of the world? Well, it would certainly seem so, as I just discovered yet another proudly vegan, eco-friendly, ethical shoe company that hails from there.
Just feast your eyes on these hot hot boots from the super stylish Cri de Coeur. These may come from NY, but they wouldn’t shame any Italian designer showing on the Milan fashion week catwalk.
They feature classic lines, trendy open toe and sides which is very very now, plus they are handmade, carbon neutral and totally feminine and sexy.
Pair these with a classically cut little black dress and some Gucci sunglasses and you’re laughing. Celebrities, get your wallets!
You (or your personal stylist) can get these from Amazon.com
