Vegan Shoe Addict

It’s been a while since I’ve had a look at the Irregular Choice vegan range and so today I had a look and found these. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m going away somewhere hot very soon and am therefore looking at sandals instead, I’d be totally investing in these. The ties down the side can be tied in a bow, so you can have a bit of play with exactly how you want the boot to look.

They also appear to have quite a comfortable heel, which is always handy, plus the Irregular Choice favourite – the crazy bunny sole.

Well, autumn is definitely here and so are all the autumn collections. This season’s Olsen Haus collection has all kinds of interesting finds in it – lots of big wedges and somewhat crazy shoes, alongside a couple of cool knee high boots. I liked these because they are simple enough to wear every day and yet beautifully made and definitely “designer”. Maybe it’s because the only way I can foresee paying designer prices for shoes is if I get a lot of wear out of them, year after year and some of the new shoes and boots in the range are just a bit too big and weird for me (though I do like the wooden wedge one very much!)

Ladies! Your essential autumn / winter knee high boots are here! These are made by ethical vegan company Beyond Skin out of fake suede and are perfectly classic and will definitely go with anything. They are handmade in Spain and while certainly more expensive than most vegan shoes we know, are about the same price as you’d pay for a similarly well made leather pair and are of equal quality.

I’m sure they will last for years and, let’s face it, I’ve never seen boots like these go out of fashion.

Although these look unisex, they are actually for women. They’re not exactly ultra feminine in style, but I do love the colours and if you like your style a little bit more comfortable and sensible than classically girlie then you will also love these. They’re not cheap but they are handmade in the UK and will last you forever (especially as they can be refurbished). They’re made by Freerangers who make a whole big range of vegan shoes and bags, including, you may be interested in discovering, a Celtic range of vegan sporrans and related items for the cruelty-free Scottish gentleman.

Yes, you’re reading this right. After all these years and their infamous shift to manufacturing their shoes in China, which saw the end of the original vegan Dr Marten boots (those with fabric uppers and no leather), Dr Martens have finally come out with an official vegan range. It’s very small (only these boots in black and the “cherry” colour and a low shoe in these two colours), but it’s vegan and it’s docs. These were pointed out to me by a reader who’s bought the boots and swears that they are the most comfortable and best made vegan boots you’re ever likely to wear.

These ruffle boots I found on Modcloth are so cute! I love the unusual colour and the ruffles make them extra fun and attention-grabbing. It’s been a while since I’ve checked out Modcloth and there are some really pretty shoes there, though most of the really gorgeous designer ones are in some way leathery. At least there’s these and they’re certainly dishy and a teeny bit 90s at the same time (the heel, mostly).

The world certainly needs more vegan shoes of unusual colours! The world also needs vegan shoes that are black, brown, grey and red, but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the full range of colours our leather-wearing friends do.

That’s why it makes me extra happy when I see boots like these. Apart from, you know, the awesome ruffles.

I know we all loved the extra high converse boots I wrote about a while back, so now you’re all going to totally adore these. Check em out! They are knee high, they have a zip, they are black and flat and awesome but they also have buckles and straps for that extra clubby, alternative rocker look. I am totally loving the looks of these, though I’d probably change the laces from white. How I wish they’d do an all black version of these!

I thought I’d take a break from going through my shoes and let you know about the awesome Schuh sale that’s on right now. I was browsing their site and found these wicked plims by Momentum. Check out the cool little skull on the laces and I do so love the shape of these. You wanna know the best bit? These are £8. Yes, £8! Better get in there quick, boys, while they still have your size, as these are totally versatile and totally cute. Sometimes I wish I had giant feet so that I could wear blokes’ shoes, cause I do so love the Momentum stuff.

More of my shoes for sale today. These are original United Nude boots, from one of the seasons before they started shoving leather into everything. These are made of fabric, are knee high and feature a picture of some sort of landscape. They are very light and I’m sure they’ll be comfortable if they actually fit you. The heels are the highest ones that UN do. The width around the calves can be adjusted.

I got these off eBay ages ago but they are a tiny bit too small for me which makes them uncomfortable. They’re meant to be 5 UK / 38 Euro but I’d say you need to be on the small side of size 5 and you could maybe even get away with being a 4.5. I don’t think they have been worn much (if at all) before I got them and I never actually got around to wearing them, because they weren’t the right size!

I’ll happily take offers around £10 for them.

Festival season is back and seeing as I’ve had my share of rainy festivals, my optimism is reduced to choosing half wellies over full wellies if I think it’s going to be a relatively good weekend.

These lace wellies by Mel (cheaper sister company of Melissa Shoes) may not save you if the mud really hits the fan, but for a slightly damp festival they’re certainly more interesting than Farmer Giles wellies or even Hunters that have kinda been done to death. I take no responsibility for any accidents that may happen if you spend too many festivals walking around in these in rocky, muddy fields – these are quite cheap and probably meant as stylish urban rain boots in countries where rain boots can be seen as urban and stylish. Also, I have no idea what the grip is like on these. All I know is that they’re about as sexy as you can get for wellies without having a rubber boot fetish.

Now, before you get too excited about these particular vegan boots, you should know that these were one of a kind and have already sold. The good news is that the person who sells these on Etsy (where I have been spending some days looking at vegan shoes) will make you similar ones. In fact, there’s a whole load of different styles you can get in customised Converse-like knee high boots (with a zip) and there’s even another type of vegan boot that isn’t Converse that you can get customised.

They’re not all doom and gloom, by the way, I just liked these.

I do so like these. They look sort of like desert boots but crossed with a lovely retro fabric all flowery and sweet.

There’s definitely a fashion statement to be had here of the quirky and fun variety. It’s like instant spring on your feet, which is a very cheery thing indeed.

These flowery fabrics seem to be making quite the comeback on shoes as of late. I’ve seen a few other hits in this general trend that I’m going to write about soon.

These fun vegan trainers are made out of nylon and fabric and can apparently be put through the washing machine repeatedly and come out clean and fresh. They come from Brasil, where people are encouraged to wear them to the beach without using socks, and are meant to be breathable and comfortable.

The company, MAZ, apparently keeps bringing out new colour combinations and styles (boots, lace up trainers, velcro-fastened trainers, etc.) for men and women and never repeat the same colour combo twice. I’m pretty sure just about all their shoes are unisex and come in a huge range of sizes, plus kids’ sizes. I’ve picked a particularly girly one to show here, but I assure you there are plenty of colourful manly designs to please the vegan macho man as well.

Yet another awesome footwear company from Brazil, the country that’s given us Melissa Shoes and a few other similar vegan shoe companies. Thanks, Brasil! You guys rock.

Well, drool me a river! It’s never been easy to pull off the sexy, Gibsonesque, cyberpunk look while still being 100% vegan, but things just got easier. Even better, these gorgeous, futuristic boots are unisex. That’s right, they come in both men’s and women’s sizes! They’re by Fugu shoes, a Japanese company (of course). Have you donated to the Earthquake appeal yet?

They’re made of canvas and are high-tops, so are sort of trainer-like and Converse-like, but, to put it nicely – we’re talking fashion Fiesta Vs cyber Rolls Royce. The best thing about these, though, is that they’ll look equally as great with just normal street clothes – jeans and a T shirt. You don’t have to go crazy with your cyber look, but they’ll make you instantly a thousand times cooler as soon as you put them on.

I must admit that, while I like the looks of wellie boots / rubber rain boots in the context of festivals and fields, I wouldn’t wear them on the city streets unless there was some sort of flooding emergency.
These Hunter Regent Grosvenor boots, though, are just about hot enough to be worn in more urban surroundings. Behold their hot metallic buttons that make them look like proper military or navy boots! They’re shiny, yes, but with the patterened bits it may well take people a bit of time to notice these are made of plastic and not leather. Of course, if you live anywhere outside of London, you may be able to wear any old rain boots on the streets of your city anyway. I think it may only be the English who have such a countryside alliance and Glastonbury festival hippie association with rubber rainboots.
