Vegan Vivienne Westwood rain boots

vegan Vivienne Westwood boots More rain boot fun! This time, though, they’re by Melissa shoes and designed by Vivienne Westwood. Sure, they cost more than your average wellie, but they’re, you know, Vivienne Westwood, so will make you instantly 10 times cooler.

These are cute cute cute with their little side buttons that make them fit in with the military-style look while simultaneously also being young, funky and waterproof. I’m quite charmed by the blue colour, I must say.

If you were going to wear one pair of rain boots this year and look incredibly hip and fashionable nonetheless then these are definitely the ones. Pretty pretty but remember that Melissas run a size small.

I found these here.

Vegan men’s brogues

vegan men's brogues Here’s a cool pair of vegan brogues for the guys. I’d say they’re more in the realm of work shoes than, say, the ultra-cool vintage brogues you’d wear with your zoot suit, but they are still pretty funky.

I really like the pattern both inside and out and the pointed toe is cool. It’s second only to the rounded toe in my book (I loathe square toed shoes for blokes). All in all, these are actually pretty retro and smarter than the Vegetarian Shoes brogues I wrote about a while back.

If you’re a vegan guy looking for a cool pair of shoes to wear with your suit to work, etc. then you should definitely take a look at these.
They’re made by NOHARM who are 100% vegan, ethical and cool. Handmade in Italy.

You can see these on the NOHARM site where you can find out where to get them.

Cute vegan dotted ankle wellie boots

vegan ankle rain boots Well, the M&S site tells me that wellies are a hot trend this winter. While I’m not sure about that, I know that these are pretty cute. They come in this muddy brown and also in dark girlie pink and are pretty good for wearing through smaller puddles. Like all boots from the wellie family, I think these would make good summer festival boots, as long as the summer festival doesn’t get *too* muddy. They seem pretty grippy too, so probably OK for walking in some wintery mud and slush in the meantime.

I like the pull-on style with the little tab in the back and the white piping is a nice touch too. All in all these are pretty sweet for 20 quid.

You can get them from Marks and Spencer.

Retro 90s vegan canvas heels

vegan canvas heels Well, it was only a matter of time, wasn’t it? It’s now a full 20 years since 1990 and the 90s retro stuff starts appearing. Yes, apparently there is 90s retro and this is it. Shoes like these canvas high heels. They’re a bit weird, let’s be honest, but true to the grungy and chunky spirit of the times.

They are Schuh’s own brand and as you can see they have a very chunky heel and somewhat of a trainer-like feel. I remember owning something similar myself in the 90s.

I wasn’t even convinced there *was* a 90s look that could be brought out of retirement and into vintage stores, but this is apparently it and it does make sense. So if you want to relive the wonder years of 90s fashion, now’s your chance. Oh yeah…Don’t laugh at the concept of 90s retro. 80s retro has been around for ages now, so this is the next logical step.

These are called the carrie bar shoes and you can get them from Schuh.

Silver and red sexy vegan slingbacks

vegan silver slingbacks I am rather fond of silver shoes and these are totally cool. I love the red bits and the stitching effect is a really nice touch too. This is another shoe that could probably work with a deco look if you weren’t too fussed about being 100% authentic but just wanted to look stylishly cool.

These shoes are by Neuaura who are a 100% vegan shoe company. I want to really like their shoes, but I don’t always, because some of them, I find, don’t look that great up close (at least in pictures, I’ve never actually seen one in the flesh, I must disclose). These, however, look pretty cool. The shiny patent finish in the silver colour means they’ll get attention no matter what and everyone will be too blinded by their shiny, reflective light to think anything but happy thoughts about the whole experience.

You can get these at Vegan Chic.

Funky vegan flowery canvas boots

vegan flat boots Well, it was only a matter of time till I ended up writing about something of the canvas boot range that has been so extremely popular over the last few years. These flat vegan boots by Sugar I think are a particularly funky example, with a funky flowery pattern that makes them stand out.

Having canvas shoes become trendy is somewhat of a double-edged sword, as things that go into fashion tend to come out of fashion too, which is when vegan fashion victims risk looking somewhat like yesterday’s news.

I remember back in the day when I’d just turned vegetarian and stopped wearing leather, there were practically no non-leather shoes around. I was reduced to wearing Palladium shoes – sort of canvas walking shoes that came in black or tan. Then they suddenly became hugely popular and mainstream, which was great, as it resulted in there being lots of funky-coloured Palladiums about (which I bought), and wearing them became a fashion statement. Then they went out of fashion and wearing them became a totally different fashion statement.

And the moral of the story is? Well, for one, enjoy the golden age while it lasts and get yourself some nice canvas shoes in slightly more interesting designs than you otherwise would. Once the trend is gone, it’s up to you to decide whether to keep wearing them, depending on how much of a fashion victim you are. If your shoes are cool enough to match your look and be attention-grabbing enough on their own (which these certainly are), then you should be OK whatever.

vegan espadrille wedges

vegan wedges Oooooh nautical! I’m a sucker for a nice nautical wedge and these vegan wedges are so extra cute with the red bow and the lovely back heel woven bit that looks like it’ll actually hold your foot in quite well. I’ve seen plenty of espadrille and espadrille wedges before but this is definitely a nice, unusual touch. Pretty pretty and great for spring if it ever comes. They’d be lovely with a 50s dress or, obviously, some kind of nautical themed outfit.

You can get these from Next.

Vegan retro mid heel black and white shoes

vegan black mid heel retro black & white Here’s a cool pair of shiny retro heels in classic black and white. I like the big white button and white piping on the outside and the lining is really cool too. They look like they’d be super cute with either a dress or trousers and at 26 pounds they are so within reach it’s almost too good to be true. I mean, as I always say in this blog, don’t expect miracles for this price, but they do look very sweet and girlie and the low heel means relative comfort too.

You can get these on the Next website.

Vegan hiking boots

vegan hiking boots So, the other day I was out hiking with my cousins while my house was being robbed… No, that’s not some funny blog thing. Some fuckers actually broke in and stole some important stuff, including the laptop I use to do things like write this blog. But, as they say, the blog must go on…

I realised I don’t actually have any proper hiking boots and these vegan hiking boots by Vegetarian shoes caught my eye. They’re unisex, though they look kinda manly and they are sturdy and hard wearing, plus generally pretty hard. Great for hiking and kicking things while pulling your hairs out thinking about all the stuff you had on your PC that some wanker is now looking at instead of you (or kicking the people who stole my stuff in a very non-pacifist way if I ever got anywhere near them).

But let us get onto cheerier things, as these boots actually deserve a happy blog post. They are of very high quality, as the veggie shoes stuff always is, plus they are 100% vegan and ethical. I’ve been hiking with my Nova boots, which are nice, but not exactly trailblazing boots when compared to these. Sure, the Novas are sexier, but they’ll never hold you the way these do…

I found these on Mooshoes , though you can also get them directly from Vegetarian Shoes.

Vegan men’s black skate shoes

vegan skate shoes Oh I do like the Macbeth trainers / sneakers / skate shoes for the boys. They are just so… understatedly cool. It’s like the people who designed them know they’re just shoes and that shoes should know their place, but they also know that people often judge you based on your shoes, even if it’s only as part of the grander scheme of what you’re wearing.

These are black, simple and sexy but are just real sweet at the same time. If you wore these and wanted people to know you were vegan, you’d have to wear one of those “nobody knows I’m a vegan” T-shirts (do they exist? I think they probably do).

These are just so much about having the sort of super cool skater or grungy look thang that no one would think anything of it and you wouldn’t get instantly tagged as a vegan anarchist. See? Understatedly cool…

You can get them via Mooshoes.

Vegan plaid school sock trainers

vegan plaid trainers Yup. It’s time for yet another Rocket Dog shoe review. It’s just that they have so many good vegan shoes… Like these “Jamba school sock” trainers. I’m not sure I like the very blatant Rocket Dog logo on the heel, but I do like the whole “let’s turn the cool school socks into a shoe” thing. I guess if you wore them with black knee-highs you’d look like the anti-preppy student.

They are simple, fun and the grey is a good choice cause it means you can wear them with lots of different things and they are mostly neutral, even though they have a pattern. I wouldn’t go trying them on with anything, say, pink and busy, though!

These plaid vegan trainers are available from Schuh.

Mad vegan rockabilly cork wedges

vegan rockabilly cork wedges Well, it doesn’t get much crazier than this, does it? I’m not sure where you’d wear these to, how, what with or why, but here they are. They are pretty over the top in every way possible. I mean, they’ve got a wedge, they’ve got colourful tattoo designs, there’s some sort of dangly thing at the back and there’s even one with leopard print. Someone’s obviously taken every possible new rockabilly trick in the book and put it into a shoe.

I guess you need to be a very particular kind of person to be able to carry these off and do them justice and if you are that person, then you’re already reaching for your card and counting the minutes till your emotional meeting. I salute you!

You can get these by following this link.

Vegan New Rock Boots

vegan new rock biker boots New Rock make serious boots. I always wanted to get a pair but they were always leather leather leather. Then Good ol’ Pennangalan started doing the Vegan New Rocks. They’ve had them for a while, but I’ve only just gotten around to writing about them properly. In fact, just looking at them now is reminding me I still haven’t bought myself a pair. Now I’m thinking, where am I going to get £150 from?

I love how sturdy and heavy these look. New Rock make really hard wearing shoes with good construction. So I can only assume the vegan version will be well-constructed too. I love the metal inserts and I love that they have a side zip, cause, well, I’m lazy when it comes to putting shoes on and taking them off. Total awesomeness.

I also like the fact that Pennangalan can make other New Rock styles out of the vegan material, which opens up a whole world of exciting possibilities. New Rock make some truly brilliant, heavy duty boots.

You can get these from Pennangalan.

Vegan flat plaid and denim pumps

plaid flat shoes I’ve written about the Babycham Rockabilly Flash shoes before, but now Babycham have come up with a new design – the Rockabilly Flash Plaid! They’re totally neat, understated yet really quite funky. I love the plaid and denim combination, plus they also have a star-shaped upper eyelet, which is a pretty neat touch.

Once more, Babycham have managed to create shoes that are very “now” but are also pretty retro at the same time.
They look like comfortable shoes you could wear when you want to look funky and somewhat different but don’t want to go for a heel. The red, white and blue combination (especially with the hinted star) has a sort of all-American feel, too. Almost country & Western in a way, but without being too overtly American.

All in all, these are pretty damn funky.

You can get these from Schuh.

Vegan see-through fashion rain boots

vegan rain boots I just love these vegan rain boots by Fessura. They come in a little see-through bag in the same colour as your boots (there’s red, clear, orange, yellow, grey and pink, I think) and you also get a pair of stripey socks to wear them with.

I’m not sure I’d want to be wandering round carrying a bag with boots in as well as a normal bag, but I’m sure I could find a use for a cute see-through bag anyway.

The boots themselves are very plasticy and a bit stiff. Sort of like wearing one of those hot plastic raincoats on your feet. I’m pretty sure that’s the whole point of the boots – you carry them around in your bag and change out of your sexy Italian heels into these when it looks like it’s going to be puddle weather (Fessura are an Italian label).

I don’t own a pair, but I’ve handled them. They’re definitely not as sturdy as a pair of wellies but they are definitely wickedly fashionable and cool to be seen in.

You can get these from Amazon.
